Axles seated?

Yes they need to be pushed in further. I made the mistake of filling the transmission thinking this was all the way in, when it wasn’t. I soon learned that when fluid came out at the axle shaft seals. Lol

I did the same and then thought the seal was bad and replaced it before realizing they just aren't in all the way. The trick it to shove them in using one hard, long, fast stroke. Do NOT try to hammer them it, it will not work and will break things. I pulled ours out and then just slammed it in and it was done!

Thanks, guys. I was able to just grab the big metal cylinder and jiggle and push. The other end was even in the hubs. Worked great on both sides. Crisis averted!!!
