Brembo brakes from SS donors

The Cobalt SS Brembo brakes are huge. They were designed to repeatedly stop a 3000 pound car on the track and from what we've read, they did a good job.

In our opinion, running the Brembo brakes isn't a great idea because they will increase tire lock up and they will narrow your tire and wheel choices since you will be limited to running 17s on the front.

We think it is better to run smaller brakes, smaller wheels (15-16 inch) and smaller diameter tires (22.5 to 23.5 inch tall).

If you do want to run the Brembo brakes, check out the thread about wheel options: Wheel options - SS with Brembo

Curious if you've ran the brakes (front?) off the SC cobalt? Single piston and allow 15"'s I think. Similar to the mazdaspeed 3 as well. Small caliper, single piston but worked well for a 3k lbs car on the track/autox.

For the front brakes we are actually now supplying the 11 inch rotor with the single piston caliper from the 5 lug base model Cobalt. The larger rotor provides higher brake force than the 10 inch rotor, giving a good balance front to rear. The 15 inch wheels we've tried have all fit over these brakes.
