I dont have the car close by but this should help. You probably have 2-3" but it will mess with the hose angle a bit.

Thanks. The hose angle was about all I could think of. I can always readjust the gas cap fill tube bracket angle. I think I’m gonna pull the trigger on that cooler. It holds nearly a gallon of coolant. For future reference it is the Derale 65860 (low profile fan). Just for fun I’m going to make a table of predicted numbers and then do an actual test on it next weekend and see how accurate I was. Either way, I think this will resolve all of my issues.

New HE came in the mail today. Its a beast! This new 4 1/2” core Derale fits just fine; still even clearance for the engine coolant tank. Its tight, but it will certainly work. I think this will do just fine at keeping my intercooler temps at ambient.

Haven’t decided exactly which orientation to use yet. For the fittings, I’ll have the most room at the bottom for running 45 degree fittings, which will insure better coolant flow.

Spent last weekend spending a bunch of money on metal fabrication stuff; belt/disc sander, grinding wheel, dremel, 16 guage steel, plate bender... Borrowed a friend’s MIG welder. Frustrated that my build is stalling as much as it is, but I’m trying my best to learn metal fabrication and welding in the meantime between work and family. As small as the custom touches I want to do seem to be, its not easy, lol.

I have my engine/trans mocked up in the frame. Adam sent me the tabs to weld in to mount my fuse box. Once the fuse box is mounted, I will mock up all hoses & lines and weld in custom brackets for my HE. I’m working on ideas for mounting the high mounted brake light, LED courtesy lights, motion sensor, and terminal blocks.

My biggest goal right now is to finalize the wiring and get all additional tabs welded and mocked up, so I can get the frame off to powdercoat.

I got my courtesy light housing fab’ed up today. Picked up a welder for the first time. Once I got the wire speed and helmet dark enough, I was able to run some decent beads with good penetration. Today was all outside corner practice; but at this point I’m confident I’ll be able to build the rest of the pieces I need, as well as fix any mistakes I might make.

Summer is finally over and aside from that and 3 months of out of town work training, I’m back at it.

Just about finished the left switch panel today. Welded the remaining rolled edge, bondo and primered to remove any high spots. I have decided I’m going to wrap it in vinyl. I will do that tomorrow once I get the mounting configuration figured out.

Almost forgot to mention; for you fellow computer nerds...

I recently ditched 3D and got into VR racing to curb my continuous racing fix. I am happy to report that a $200 Oculus Go VR in the same room as a 5g router will run all current VR-capable racing simulators just as well as the $450 VR units can, using freeware, a 5 year old graphics card and rig, and some minor tweaks. Currently running PCARS2 in mostly ultra graphics settings and enjoying the hell out of it.

Back on the build.,. I have a lot of welding to do which was holding things up, so I picked up a new MIG welder. I started fabricating and welding the tabs for my heat exchanger and power distribution box mount.

I may ditch the Cobalt gauges as I really do not like them. I will probably instead fabricate a full dash and add a smaller digital tft display of some type, right behind the steering wheel.

I will be ordering stage 3 soon so I can begin a full mock-up with all of the panels to work out any final fitament issues.

Got a lot done today so far. Heat exchanger brackets are clamped in place, and built some custom grille mesh covers. Moving on to the dash design next...
