Hello Everyone,
Thanks for having me.
I'm Jordan and from Kansas City area.

Starting to plan things out, And I've been looking at the 07+ cobalt LS/LT with the 2.2 MT is there any difference between these models for the kit purpose? If I want to SC using the zzp kit should I consider forged pistons/rods? And lastly I know that the ls/lt did not have an LSD, Have any of you seen this LSD kit to upgrade the transmission.

Thank you for any input!

I did a lot of research on the transmissions - manuals and automatics. There are actually 2 completely different manual transmissions - from different vendors. I have a post on this site about them. I do not remember for sure which is which -I think the M86 is the most common one. The common one has no option for an LSD (stock), the less common has two versions one without and one with. The supercharger - I called ZZP and they bought a long time ago a number of new superchargers. They are nearly out of them now - less than 20 left. They indicated that the supercharger is no longer available from GM (I have not checked but it will big $$$ anyway). ZZP told me after they run out they will source any needed ones from "their suppliers" - wreaking yards. You should ask Adam at DFKit car what parts you will need from ZZP. Steve at ZZP told me they get the intake manifolds from GM - they are still available. That is a bit curious - can't quite figure out how one of them would fail other than a crash - no moving parts. Good luck. BTW - as far as rods - I think the engine will easily survive the 200-210 HP of the SC. I know that DFKitcar put the supercharger on a stock 2.2 liter 2009 engine. IT GOES!!! 3.9 seconds 0-60 will make a lot of people just give up in a short drag.

Hey Dan,

Thanks for your reply, You have a ton of great info on here! Has anyone put the 2.4l from the earlier model SS's into a Goblin? There is one locally for sale for not a huge price and from what I hear the LE5 is a pretty solid motor.

Do any of you with completed goblins have issues not running an LSD?

Thank you!

I apologize if I missed it somewhere, but how do we know which transmission a given car has? Is it only a label on the tranny?

I had another question,

If I end up going with an LS/LT with the L61 2.2 engine with the want to turbo in the near future. What transmission comes with these? Is it the F23? If so has anyone done or thought about adding the Quaife LSD?

Thanks!

Any ideas? I'd really like a 2.4l w/5 speed, but it seems pretty hard to find. Has anyone gone the built 2.2l w/turbo and 5 speed route? Seems you can get the normal cobalt LS with 2.2l /5speed very cheap compared to the SS/sport.
