I attempted another Drag and Drive this fall, this one called Southeast Street-N-Yeet. This event started and ended at Shadyside Dragway in Shelby North Carolina with stops at tracks in Orangeburg SC, Columbia SC, and Moorseville NC. My goblin now has boost thanks to a turbo off a Subaru but...
Part 1 of this round of upgrades.....
Managed to snag one of the Justin Reed Racing brake kits.
Boost loading....
Making oversized carbon endplates for the rear wing. Just because. Current one shown for reference.
Hope to have everything done by November to go run some mountain roads...
Yes that is Carproblem AKA Paul Clark, who so happens to be my neighbor that I didn't event know until I started working on my goblin..... small world.
I just towed a loaded trailer roughly 1000 miles in five days with no cooler on my auto goblin earlier this year. The trans temps stayed right around 175-180. Unless you're hot lapping a racetrack for extended periods of time I wouldn't be too worried about it.
I started off with 28x10.5 but they were slipping on my rims causing the car to go hard left on the TNT day. So we switched to a 235/60 drag radial the morning of the first day. WAY too tall of a tire for my gearing and power level.
During sick week the best I could manage was a 14.31 @ 89 with the tires they required me to run. Which happened on day 4 in South Georgia. I went back to Bradenton the other day on my street tires and went 14.02 @ 92 with nothing else changed but the smaller tires.
I tried to run there last year in the superunlimited class and they denied entry saying they needed enough open wheeled cars to have their own run group. I didnt think about the hpde angle. I'm totally jealous. Enjoy the event!!
900+ miles and 5 race tracks later. The little Goblin successfully completed Sick Week! I was NOT ready for all of the media attention that we received! I think we had at least 5 different interviews with various media outlets. The car is so well known now I don't know if I want to put the body...
Little something I've been working on in the background for sick week to keep the car stable while on the big end of the race track. A 60" swan mount rear wing that should be a few inches above the top of the cage to get it in clean-ish air. Should have the test piece back from Smoothie...
Yea I've been keeping an eye out for some small slicks, I did read that in the rules. Sounds like all the things Sebring made me have has me covered for sick week. Thanks for the reply.
I think if you make it to Orlando it would qualify you for the end trophy. You've beat me at every event you've shown up for, I think I have to finish ahead of you in Orlando and have a car or two between us to win overall. So you better show up cause its yours for the taking!
I have stock base...
Some random photos from the last autocross at daytona.
Check out that rear tire
After looking at these photos I'm beginning to thing the slicks have so much extra grip that the rear suspension might be flexing. I'll put a gopro on it next time I have those tires on the car. But...
The beerbudgetmotorsports Instagram page is actually my cousin's page that we both share our car related nonsense on. He lives just outside of Charlotte and I guess the route for drag week went right by him somewhere.
