Correct on location, it's Olathe, KS (a suburb of Kansas City).
The donor mileage was 98,329
I never got to the point of buying the hood or panels, I'll have to look at the tail lights as I seem to remember something like 5" rounds.
With two young kids, hobbies, and a job I have come to recognize this thing was meant to be built...not for storage. So, with heavy heart I am selling mine. My chassis was on the first delivery...I don't have anything in my invoicing saying what chassis number it is (in the DF staging photo...
It has been nine long months since working on this project, started back to building today. The limitations of a two car garage make for some of the funner triumph's, got the engine off the stand and onto an ATV jack. Will mount the transmission to the motor tomorrow.
What are the processes that everyone is using to weld aluminum? ...recognizing that there is a variety. I have a cracked bellhousing that will required high-frequency TIG (so I have been told). Has anyone had luck welding say 5052 plates with MIG (with appropriate wire/flux)?
Thanks Dan, I'm sure I'll be buying more project cars and I will just stick with Copart. It would be nice to just buy direct from the insurance companies, but apparently that is frowned upon in most places/scenarios unless you are the insured.
Nice pile of parts Dan!
What are you planning on using for painting the parts after they are cleaned? Not specifically what color scheme, but what products...
thanks,
John
;D haha, all excellent points Paul! Yes, very glad to have my garage space back and excited to get building.
I think we talked about the dash bolts on top...I think you can see my solution in the photo. I folded the corners of the windshield back and got them with the air wrench since I had...
Bye-bye! The scrapper made it on Saturday...I am glad to have my garage space to start building the Goblin.
Others will have different experiences I am sure, but I ended up just giving the hull away. He said $40/ton and once you take into consideration his fuel cost and that there wan't a full...
The other pic I tried loading of the hull didn't load correctly I guess, so here it is again awaiting the scrapper. I have it in the garage on wheel dollies in the rear and a furniture dolly in the front.
My laptop is not liking that link, but I have a fair idea of what you are describing.
I'm sure you guys have other items you are working on right now too.
Hey Adam,
Is there a way that the SW that you used for the car to show models could put out a model of the assembled car and we could change colors? This wouldn't be a model of each part per se, but it would be detailed enough to show the overall end product that each builder is going for. It's...
Finally wrapped up stripping the donor, the hull is setting on dollies and I am waiting for a return call from the scrapper. Note to future builders, sell anything you can individually as scrap metal prices are pretty bad right now. None of the salvage yards in my area will buy parts...hopefully...
Paul,
There's someone on CL in Columbia, MO selling an '06 LS that runs drives for $1900 and they'd probably take a little less...runs and drives vs. ?????
Just letting you know...
With weight reduction as a main goal for all of us, I ran across this very cool article on unsprung weight.
