Custom Body Work ?????

Good Evening,
Couple of weeks ago pulled a Bradley GT body out of a farmers field. (Traded some VW parts, and tipped the AAA tow truck driver after burying my truck and trailer trying to get it out). Never really liked the look of it but the price was right along with the wheelbase. So I’m just going to post some pictures and see where it goes...

Front cut off and fitted to the front.... Not really WOWed by it...

Back section fitted... Actually not bad especially if you were going to run Indy style side ducts.... back lights not WOWed by either....

Very cool!!!
This would significantly reduce drag and increase down force.
I'm surprised how well it cleared over the engine, it makes the goblin look lower.

Couple of additional pictures. Car is in my basement so hard to get a good side profile.

Not that I want to use the front. But this was more of an experiment to see if a full panned VW kit body would or could work on the Goblin frame.

It defiantly has possibility. The Fiberfab GT12, the Sterling, Avenger and many others might be used as a base for customizing.

It's stuff like this that gets the thought juices flowing! Another shape to think of is the Meyers Manx Tow'd. It had a nice nose and rear section that might adapt well to the Goblin chassis. Or at least the cut up pieces might lend their shapes somehow...

Bar did you ever make any progress with this? I’ve recently come across an opportunity at a local university who will lend me their large tools to make a full size buck and body molds for the Goblin. It’s going to be a huge task but I’m really looking forward to it.

There was a Norma at the track last weekend. It was beautiful, going to use that as inspiration.

I'm kind of going the same route, FSAE esq.
I've got a crude nose cone idea/template started. Needing to transfer that into a solid state and make a fiberglass mold out of it.
The upper half of the nose cone opening will be capped off, inside will be frame work to hang a wing and a tow hook. Dive planes, maybe.
Splitter, full floor and diffuser planned as well.

Tested up to 50mph, didn't move an inch. Attached only at the front on the roll cage with duct tape, the dive plane kept the nose in planted an in place.

I like the flat splitter under the nose that continues down the sides, that along with some dive plans will help the light nose feeling at speed. Question, will you be exhausting the radiator? Top side is best, sides is okay, underneath will be detrimental to the downforce created by the splitter and dive planes.

Radiator venting will be out the side panel openings around the shock and suspension pickup points. The leading edge of the leading opening will have a stall strip mounted to create a low pressure area behind it, helping extract the hot air inside.
I thought about venting through the top but I'm wanting to leave it a solid, uninterrupted airflow suface to allow it to create downforce as well. Given the angle of the hood and nose as it is, should all be a high pressure area.
If the hood was flatter and curved down to the nose I would then definately vent out the top surface. This would aid in creating a low pressure area. I tried that style first

and to quote my friend, "It looks like a John Deere lawn tractor!". Granted I didn't have the nose cone attached yet, I prompty changed the design.

I like the look and rake from the side profile from the steeper angled hood.
It does a really good job of deflecting the air. It just needs a polycarbonate short wind deflector at the back of the hood to get the air the push up and over the driver compartment. (Ariel Atom 4 style)

I've got this body. Looking at getting a Goblin frame to put it on. I can get away with up to 85 or 86 inch wheelbase so I'm trying to determine the best way to shorten the wheelbase to make it fit.

Good Evening,
Friend of a friend had a bunch of VW parts he was selling. He let me borrow a standard beetle hood (bonnet) also has a super beetle hood he was going to measure up for me tomorrow (should be about 8” longer I believe). Can we say Volks Rod. (Might even be able to dig up a early VW VIN plate with paperwork).
See what you think...

Not going with the entire body but I don’t mind the working hood and chopped windshield (probably just go with the bottom and sides with the glass polished on the top).
THX,
Bruce

I have a body for sale if anyone is interested. It's off of a Factory Five 818. Open to offers. I'm in Arizona.
