F40 Transmission

I have a F40 and ZZP's install kit to go in mine, but I won't get to it until springtime at the earliest.

I don't believe the F40 it's a direct bolt in to the Goblin. You may need to do some cutting and welding. The transmission is very close to the frame and mounts.

Here are a few images that might help. It would be nice to have the two different transmission setting side by side for comparison.

Hi, Guys,

I realize the frame must be modified to accept the F-40 rather than the F-35. But what about the reverse: Can an F-35 be mounted in a frame that has been modified for the F-40? I will eventually use and F-40, but I would like to use the F-35 from my donor until I can come up with the funds for the F-40.

Can anyone provide me with some guidance?

Thanks,

Larry

Larry, the F40 modded frame from DF has a different transmission mount, is located differently, and the frame rails on the driver's side are angled outward. The F35 would fit inside the frame no problem, but getting an 'adapter' to accommodate the transmission mount would be a challenge.

Why not just go with a F40 from the start and sell the F35 from the donor. I did and so did several other's building Goblins. I know I have no regrets going this route and you would be surprised how inexpensive getting an F40 really is, if you don't need an LSD.

If you have not read it yet, here is another more in depth link for the F40 transmission - with lots of colorful commentary - that may help you with your decision, or not. :) https://dfkitcar.com/forum/index.php?threads/f40-transmission-will-it-work.950/
