Front wing?

I noticed in an early computer mock up of prototype 1, the kit is shown with a front wing mounted to the nose.

Is there any intention of offering this alongside the rear wing in the future?

The front wing is definitely something we will be revisiting.

Because we moved the fuel tank behind the seats and the radiator up front, the nose is being changed to include an opening for fresh air to get to the radiator. Since the nose is changing, we are holding off on designing the wing until the nose is finalized.

Here's a rendering that shows basically what the new nose is going to look like:

HI Adam,

You might already have this detailed and I missed it, sorry if that is the case. With the latest model you have, all of the air would get blown right over the driver/passenger after having gone through the radiator? ???

In reply to Mr. Smith:

Donkervoort has a wing similar to what you've sketched and is one that I like.

We would probably not start off with an adjustable wing like the Donkervoort but I like how the wing flattens out in the center to fit under the nose rather than sticking out in front of the car like a plow.

In reply to John:

Check out this pic of prototype 2:

Sheet metal goes all the way from the floor up to the curved black piece you can see behind the brake booster. This sheet metal will have thick rubber trim that will seal against the inside of the hood. This will keep the hot air from going straight to the passenger compartment. Your first stage will come with the lower half of this bulkhead, along with the floor and rear firewall. We will be sending the upper half of the front bulkhead with a later stage.

I will absolutely be fabricating a wing for mine once I get there. Long way off yet so it's not big on the ol priority list.

I think a decent front wing is a must. With most of the weight being in the back, we'll need that downforce to help keep firmly planted up front under high speeds, and to help with front grip flying through the twisties.

I am also planning on adding a front wing when the time comes. I'm also looking at different options for the rear wing as well. Apparently the wing they offer is not very strong and they needed to add reinforcement because the fiberglass was cracking from the down force. I might use the rear wing mounts and then pick up a stronger carbon or aluminum wing

With regards to a front wing. As I am assembling the BLUE goblin up in Buffalo. I really think as more and more of the kits are being built. A lot of the builders are going to want a front skid plate under that front radiator and nose cone it is a great looking design but is going to be really susceptible to getting crushed or bent, even on a steep driveway apron. If a skid plate was placed under the front you could also make hard points on it to attach the front wing , bumper, tow bar etc....

Sorry, Pulling up an old thread here, but is this 3d model of the goblin something you guys would be willing to share? I'd love to mess around with sketchup with that model to try to make myself some nice splitter/diffusers.

If you have not seen Scott's @SACTX , you might contact him as well. He did some cool stuff.

Yep, I've watched his build, he's good inspiration, I think these cars need something like that up front.
