Keep everything, as much as possible, until you have your kit built. This includes bolts, nuts, washers, hoses, fittings and anything else that is not sheet metal on the body shell (but some builders are also keeping some of the sheet metal to make things like a roof panel).

Does your 05 Cobalt donor have the 5 bolt fuel pump like my 06 does? I'm not sure if you have to use a newer fuel pump.
From the LSJ fuel pump, there are 2 plastic lines that lead to the fuel regulator, then off to the fuel rail.
I think the DF videos show how to use the stock 2 plastic lines, the stock fuel regulator, then auto supply store fuel line to the injector fuel rail.
I have replaced my stock plastic lines with rubber fuel lines from the auto supply store... but fuel lines have a wide range of quality, and cheap fuel lines only last a year or two.

How much of the fuel line do you keep? Just the braided part or all the hard lines too?
quick connect, branded line and just a few inches of the hard line. Df supplies line and fittings for everything, but the factory connection and braided line adapted to the fuel filter, looks cleaner to me. Just my opinion. It’s good to have that option available.

Update:
Got tons done with Dad’s help. Got stainless headers and now have to start figuring out how to get the double exit muffler to fit.
Exhaust question. Will the computer be confused without a catalytic converter in the system?
Shouldn’t be a problem. Only “issue” I had was throwing a code for the 2nd o2 sensor. The bank 1 sensor 2 codes and all evap codes can be turned off in HP Tuners if you have / plan on getting it.

also, love the wheels! I’m a sucker for bronze!

OK good news! I haven't heard of the HP Tuners until just now. Looks like it plugs into the OBD port? I prefer simple tech whenever possible. Is there a bare bones/cheap version that will just do the code delete and not have all the phone connectivity, analytics, etc?

Thanks. I love bronze wheels too. Gonna go for a 60's Ferrari look.

HPT only has 1 version

Best thing to do is find a tuner to do it for you.

You don’t have to use the full function of the MPVI, but it will be a wonderful device to have for data logging and tuning…if you want to go down that road. I was putting off getting one for awhile and finally bit the bullet and purchased one. I have not heard of a simpler device that has the ability to turn off DTCs.

There is a chance that someone with older software would have to modify the tune since the newer version of the editor program has removed some of the ability to make emissions related changes. I don't know if the DTC's are included.

I was able to remove emissions DTCs with the newest software but had to take HP Tuners’ “Advanced Parameters Training” to unlock that ability.

If you just heard about HPT, then you don't need it unless you are going to get into tuning. A simple scanner from local parts store will normally read codes and erase. Parts store will scan, but will not erase due to liability.

If you do get a HPT and start playing, then you're going to screw something up! Your knowledge and skill set may not be up to the technicalities evolved. Get an experienced tuner to do your tuning! That should come with some kind of guarantee!!

Thanks for the info on the tuning stuff.
My latest issue is that I can’t figure out how the coolant tank is installed. Saw a vid of how one guy did it, but if I do it that way I can’t get the engine cover on. This was my latest attempt. Man I wish there were instructions. I’m now in “figure it out” land.

I have my spacer towards the seat. Since yours is pushed out towards the rear of the car, it might be causing it to hit the hump on the engine cover.

I have the wife’s with the spacers towards the engine like you but it’s N/A. The engine cover may fit without the spacers or maybe use a washer or two?

Thanks for your help y'all. I ended up mounting to the back side of the bracket with no spacers but had to grind off some of the plastic on the tank to make it fit under the engine cover.
