Spoke to the insurance agent and she stated that she can't insure it if is owned by an LLC. This is with AllState, she suggested that if I decide to go this route that I try another company like progressive and I think she mentioned geico. I guess I will check with another insurance company. She is still working on a quote for me if I decide to register it through RI.

Update on my situation. I have been driving on the Montana plates, with NY Progressive insurance. Now they just licked it back, saying I would have to register in NY to keep the policy. NO WAY!

HERE IT IS! Insure with Garden City insurance, Missoula Montana. They know how to do this!!!!!
I have spent many, many hours talking to other ********. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH ANYONE ELSE.

****!!! For one car? Holy mackerel.
Yea $2500 with a 1991 motorhome. Was going to be $1700 total before they saw my driving record. I had a accident in Florida which put on 5 points. 2 reduced speeding tickets complete my record. They last 3 years in Florida! (18 months in NY)

That’s what those attorneys are for, keeping stuff like that off your record. Saves $$$ in the end with the insurance.

*EDIT*. That’s what I’m told!

Time for a GPS radar detector? I currently run a Escort Passport 9500iX, and it has saved me many times.... paid for itself every year.

So how much are you now paying for just the goblin? Your new Insurance is ok with the fact that you are registered in Montana but keep and drive the car in NY? I should have my Montana plates soon and currently have progressive insurance and when I talked to them about registering under my llc in Montana and driving the car in California they said it wouldn't be a problem.

About $2000/year. Full premium coverage $50 deductible. Would have been about 1/2 with a clean license.

Read above REDUCED speeding tickets. Problem is a 3 point speeding ticket reduced to disobey sign, 2 points in NY is 3 points in FL.! Another one was reduced to broken speedometer. No points in NY. 2 points in FL. I cant win. And they take 3 years to go away in Florida.

3 years same here in MO. I would actually put the date on my calendar and the day of, I would call them and formally request they be removed. Otherwise they get removed when they get around to it which could be much longer.

I just emailed the company that facilitates the montana registration about my trouble getting an insurance quote and they sent me three suggested places and Gardin City was on that list. Might have to give them a call. I did get a quote if I go through RI registration, I think it was through Hagerty.

In the process of trying to register our Goblin in Idaho. Having real issues as they changed the requirements to state that specially constructed vehicles that "the owner will complete a self-certification on a form prescribed by the department stating that the vehicle is in compliance with Chapter 9, Title 49, Idaho Code, and meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in effect for the model. "

Working with Adam on ideas but also considering the Montana route (lol, I was born in Kalispell and grew up, went to high school, in Missoula).

Question, hoping someone has the answer... If I go the Montana route, get the title/registration, is there anything preventing me from selling the Goblin back to myself and then using the Montana title to re-title in Idaho???

Thoughts ?

Is there any safety standards for a DF Goblin? Doubt the Feds have anything for this model, might have some wide sweeping standards for all cars, but the statement only asks about the standards in effect for the model.
