not all of this is for the goblin.... but a good majority of it IS... this does not include the cost of the kit, that was a separate funding source...
~$3046 on accessories & build expenses between the Goblin and a WRX over the last three years starting in 2018
( thats when the loan gotpaid off for the wrx, lol )

recent post had me consider tracking costs and my workplace is clamoring to get more information about the build process...
so i thought I'd figure the budget out while I am stalled on progress & I can retrace my steps to see how I got here.

I still need to qualify each and every transaction to differentiate between the Goblin build and maintenance for the WRX.... sigh

a slight bit of progress in the last couple days, was able to track down the electrical issue with the backup lights not activating when shifting to reverse. having assumed the switch was good, I ran continuity tests for each leg of the circuit involved with the backup lights. the fuse was good as well as the wire coming from the fuse box. It never dawned on me to test the actual switch until I jumped the switch connector and got the LED's to light up. Bingo Bango, swapped a new switch in and the backup lights work no problem!

I've connected a battery cutoff switch and will locate it next to the ignition switch behind the steering wheel. it will need to be supported by something so I am going to build a dashboard. Just a matter of trial and error in planning the shape of the dashboard. I am prototyping in cardboard and am going to use a light board of wood, ~1/4" thick, for the draft version before putting on finishing touches.

doing some research on (keyword jumble for searching, lol ) forward hinged or reverse hinged hood mounting options
I know I looked this stuff up in the past but can't seem to find things, taking the time to record things here for reference

finally pulled the trigger on the body parts to finalize the build...

note to add to the bonnet option later....
push button clip for the rear of the bonnet once i figure out the forward tilt mechanism... google search link

Austin Healey owners have an option to forward tilt their hoods... ebay link below for reference

need to source a TowBar like Bar-Air's...

Took the goblin out for a couple laps around the block, found that the rear fo the car tended to track to the right so i did a quick string alignment and found that the both rear tires were toe out practically. the front tires were toe in... it may still be this way but at least now it will be to a much lesser extent. the string alignment will probably be good just enough to not have the thing feel squirrelly on acceleration...

also need to note that there was much backfiring going on as well... not sure that it stems from mixing mid grade and premium gas, but I am certain that I need to "clean" the engine internals, maybe seafoam?? not sure if anyone here has done that in the ecotecs, chime in if you have.

The string alignment works for vehicles that are square, but my Goblin is not... not sure if you checked your wheel width front vs rear.
Also, the rubber bushings in the rear swing arms tend to be too soft for the goblin, and can cause tow out when accelerating.
I replaced mine with "Control Arm Bushing MOOG K201285".

Thanks Ross! I'll have to definitely go back and check that the tire width matches front and back. I had not thought of that since the car is still on the donor wheels/tires.

I'll have to keep in mind the tow out acceleration issue. I knew that the control arms may need some better support or or to be replaced; however, I'm not sure if that will be an immediate upgrade or something to keep on the list for down the road.

Thanks to JBINTX as well for the link. I'm going to source some of the CRC valve cleaning spray, I'm sure it will benefit from it. I'm not expecting a miracle but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to run it through the engine.

I forgot to add that I am now also doing my homework to swap out the stock cooling reservoir for something else. I have a feeling that there is a leak associated with the reservoir tank that I can not pinpoint at this time. i imagine that i could throw a bit of pressure into the system with a hand pump or something to see if hoses are not tight enough but I have no idea if that will harm anything else in the system... but I'm fearful that's a bad idea.

They make cooling system pressure kits just for the purpose you are talking about.

The front of my car is wider than the rear.

Adam's alignment instructions should work well for you. The alignment plates aren't terribly expensive to buy and wouldn't be hard to fabricate if you have some material handy.

ok, so....
This is a bit overdue.... first off, here is a bit of experimenting done with a battery cut-off switch.

found a nice spot to add it in here initially between the ignition and the steering column...
let's make a template...

and add in the rest of it now...

great... so i cut it out of cardboard to gett a template... and i figure it would serve pretty well in the future if i cut it out of whatever wood i have lying around the place....

what you can;t see from this angle are the holes in the board that would accomodate both the ignition switch as well as the battery cutoff switch located right next to it.

I have abandoned this idea, but am still holding onto the wood "dashboard" for when i get to refine the feature later on "down the road"

something else that I absolutely need to record is that i finally have the body work that I pushed off for so long....

I needed a helping hand, err truck to get the package to the garage, but in hindsight i probably could have tossed this either in the roof rack of the subaru or just shoved everything in the back of the hatchback wagon.

So now I have a footwell cover, but before installing it, I wanted another shot at that battery cutoff switch location.... i had a silly idea... that might have worked....

put the cut off switch IN THE IGNITION SWITCH!! Thought that was brilliant.... until disaster struck...

ok so that is not on the table any longer... and for simplicity sake, i think I will simply relocate the battery cut off somewhere else... but eventually, i think what I want to do is...

find a way to attach the ignition from the opposite side... I am already concocting a 3d model of a mount in my head and have to get this into software soon.

Ok, so... there is still the matter of the body work going on... today i was able to get the footwell cover aligned, trimmed, and fitted. I have yet to secure it though...

taking cures from the post that goes over footwell cover installation
THANK YOU Tim Moland (link to his post)

I still need to trim around the clutch cylinder though

Cut the back facing side of the ignition at an angle to "repoint" your cut off switch toward the middle of the car.
... hmmm... hadn't thought to do that... too afraid I would nick internal electronics or some other internal bits that would render the thing useless...

EDIT: after doing a quick search... found this post
showing a trimmed back ignition switch... I'm betting that I was too cautious and Towerdog has the right idea
