That's a little overboard. There's being weigh frugal and then there's being foolish. I'll stick with the 'weak' aluminum, thanks. BTW, ounces add up to pounds - more to come on that later on in my build thread.

Every Oreo I eat only weighs a few ounces and now you are telling me they add up to pounds!

Ounces are like snowflakes, individually and in small quantities they are insignificant, but when they start adding up they total quite significantly into pounds - regardless if snowflakes, metal chips (think machining), the right materials, or Oreos. Removing weight anywhere possible is the legacy Mr. Chapman left us - the spirit of the Model 7 is a part of the DNA in every Goblin.

Carbon fiber doesn't go with the 50s/60s hotrod/Bonneville theme I am planning, but thanks for bringing up this as an option. I will be using aluminum, for a specific anodized look I am after.
