I added a small hood scoop to mine, but it doesn't do much. Plan on going pretty tall if you want very much air. Mine helps a little, but it doesn't do a lot. Raising the windshield to let air under it helped a lot more.

If the master cylinder was empty (not the reservoir) it can be very hard to get all of the air out of it. It's the highest point in the system and can occasionally require bench bleeding before installing.
Before you work too hard at it, you need to find out if an 8-digit number will do you any good with your DMV. If they are wanting to be hard to work with, I bet they will try and insist that it have a standard 17-digit VIN.
Even if there is a number from DF it won’t qualify as a VIN. It would only be the chassis number. Typically the state supplies the VIN on these and mine is just a tag riveted to the frame.
I ran my pump with a relay based upon a random hot on ignition circuit. But then again I set up a mini fuse box to run the add-ons that rune off a relay.
