latest tune from ZZP Bucking bad around 3,500 rpm

If you like their tune so far and want to keep those changes, I can combine my tune and their new changes to see how it works.

The vast majority of the changes were to cam timing. Interesting.

Cool. I’ll take a look at it. Your right, it’s good for learning. The timing changes based upon load demand (and other things). The hard part is pining down the the cause as opposed to the effect. Is the timing the cause or just an effect (rhetorical question)???

Did you see what they changed to fix it?

That’s why I’ve never been a big fan of having them “tune”. They can fix some issues but there is nothing like real-time data logging and making changes and more data-logging. Hopefully you can find a shop that will tune the drivability and not just focus on mashing the throttle. I spent...

    Cutting the fat

Hey, that wing is a safety feature. It keeps people from bending over and touching the hot muffler.

You pretty much hit the major highlights of keeping the cost down. Paint instead of powder coating. Use the OE wheels, hubs, seats, shifter, etc. That will easily keep you away from the $25K. If it weren't for the engine performance parts, you could easily stay around $12K.

V1 Ross's extended city, easy entry Goblin- 06 SS/SC, NW Arkansas

That's assuming the resistor is about the same resistance of the cooling fan motor. If the cooling fan motor is a higher power fan (lower resistance and higher current) than the resistor, you would end up dropping most of the 12V along the resistor and little across the fan. That could...

I want to add a hitch for no other reason than this.

    MAF Tuning Getting Started

At the risk of sounding dumb, what four red dots are you talking about? Can you show an image of it? I've looked back at the previous images and don't see anything.

Yes, the EVAP shouldn't have anything play in this, assuming it's plugged off. The template does have the LTFT disabled. Just make sure you clear your current LTFT before you start tuning, you don't want those changing your fueling, you'll be chasing your tail. Because he cannot see your...

    MAF Tuning Getting Started

Air density will be different for the two runs. I would try to stick to doing all the tuning at one time and the same air. My original tune was done in the summer in the hotter air and earlier this year in the cooler air, it was wanting to add a lot of fuel. I re-tune in the cooler, dense...

Did you use his layout? I used the layout and the tables and I can see it fine now.

    MAF Tuning Getting Started

I personally did the VE first. I know there is conflicting information out there about which is better to do first. Your VE tables show a peak that I would smooth out. But you could spend all day tweaking the table.

    MAF Tuning Getting Started

That works but I'm still missing data or something. All the values I see are much higher, but still show some differences. The values you have aren't really very linear to those around it. Maybe try something like this: Something still a bit off, usually as you get closer to the...

    MAF Tuning Getting Started

Have you complete the VE tuning? How did that turn out? When doing the MAF, the throttle should be very smooth and slow. I see in the scan there is a lot of jitter and fairly abrupt movements in the throttle.

Can you save your scanner layout and upload it? Hopefully we can attach XML files. My layout and math is completely different than yours and the values I get seem to fall in line.

latest tune from ZZP Bucking bad around 3,500 rpm

Many things have changed from the stock file. The Torque Management has been modified extensively. In this file, I basically put most everything in the Torque Management - General tab back to stock. Give this file a try. No guarantees that is will fix anything, but will at least tell you if...

Do you have the first original file you sent them, before they adjusted anything? Post that also. The turbo models are different than the SS/SC models I'm so familiar with.

I doubt the TPS is bad. I'm sure you are unintentionally bouncing the throttle and that is make it worse. Many of us have/had some form of this issue. We had it bad in first and second gear. Good tuning and softening the suspension helps pretty much cure it for us. Post the most recent tune...
