    V2 Researching building a V2

Some goblin builders put up a car sized tent, and strip the donor car down there, then scrap the car body, to make room for the DF kit car. Most builders use one or two bays in their garage, to keep out of the weather. Start reading some build threads, and you will get a feel for what we have done.

Guess what the LSJ block weighs? The block has 3 bolts on the top, 4 oil squirters, all the oil plugs and engine frost plugs. Once thru the sonic cleaner, so only some oil staining left to scrub off. I will clean it some more tomorrow. Today I pulled out the flywheel, girdle, pistons...

I modified my hood to open without tools. The back of the hood is held by 4 wing bolts. I welded nuts to the goblin frame. I welded some plates onto door hinges, and made the front pivot. Then attached a string. I should add pneumatic lifters... one day.

Ebay.. but Amazon, Walmart, and auto supply stores all sell aluminum ones. I ordered a stainless steel compression fitting that adapts to 3/8" NPT, because i couldn't find one that adapts to AN6. I will adapt the NPT to AN6.

Cheap parts suck. Are the black aluminum threads strong enough to compress the brass ferrule? No. :( I stripped 2 of them trying to get them to seal. I decided to cut the fuel line to eliminate the 90 degree bend. So that the fuel line can go down. Rather than having a 180 degree

I spoke too soon. Behind the return check valve was a small filter. That filter was pretty plugged up, which caused the new pressure regulator to not work correctly. So I removed the check valve and filter, and the new regulator seems to be working. Thanks Jirwin. I doubled up the wires...

Thanks Russ and Dale... you helped me track down the issue. I took apart the fuel pump hat The fuel return line has a check valve with a spring, ball, and seat. I moved the ball over, to hold the spring wide open, and now the new fuel regulator can easily flow fuel back to the tank, and this...

The hex key at the top of the fuel regulator is not adjusting the fuel pressure. The pressure stays at 90 PSI, which is a lot, and I would like to dial it back to the stock 62 PSI. Did I plumb the fuel regulator correctly? Is it defective? I tried plugging the boost reference port, didn't fix...

V1 LeoZug's Montana Street Goblin - '05 Cobalt SS donor

You can also try tipping the master brake cylinder different directions to control the way the air bubbles go. Either park on a hill, or jack up a wheel while you are bleeding the brakes.

Anybody know if they make a 6AN connector adapter for these plastic fuel pump connectors? Or how should I connect AN lines? Buy a new fuel pump? At what point does the stock pump no longer keep up with a performance engine? These connectors are for the steel fuel lines at the fuel injector...

You can bleed the whole system while on the car. Brake fluid is cheap. Start by checking for leaks, fix those. Have a helper pump up the brake pedal, bleed at the rear right caliper until the new fluid comes out, then move to the rear left, then the front calipers.

Switching the two wires isn't going to fix it. Chevy changed the fuel sender between 2005 Cobalts and 2006. Are you running a 2006 fuel sensor & pump in a 2005 donor car? You might want to grab your old 2005 sensor, and install it, or buy a universal fuel sender with the correct resistance...

    OTT: Garage Goofs (10-28-2025)

When I was a teenager, I did a oil & filter change on my mother's car. When I checked the dipstick. it was overfilled. I had drained the transaxle in her front wheel drive car, and then put the new oil in the engine. :( She ended up getting an oil change in both... after a second trip to the...

    V2 Blizzard25 Goblin V2 (#19) - 2015 Golf GTI 2.0T DSG

One option to making your V2 Goblin look better... is to put an engine cover on it. Adam shows one in the early V2 draft image. Lonny also mentioned that the VW engine doesn't look great. Most engines these days just look like plastic on top, pretty ugly. Some new engines come with a...

    V1 Balance Shaft Delete?

Neutral balance shaft kits will keep the chain running around all 4 sprockets, and keep the stock water pump powered from the crankshaft. Which is the easiest way to remove the balance shafts weights. I chose the more involved way. I have an engine on the engine stand without balance shafts...
