Finally got a chance to complete the alignment. Let’s just say those original numbers I had were waaaaay off. I followed the instructions from this link. I see why it handled so terribly (excuse the horrible handwriting).
I now got it down to about 2mm toed in on the front and the rear. On the...
I read through a few guy’s logs who track them and they were using about an extra degree of camber on their wheels, if I recall correctly….
The rear alignment was pretty close to spot on when I did it the first time. 1.4 degrees camber on the left and about 1.7 on the right. Toe was slightly...
UPDATE: I went back to the garage after work and decided to take another look at the alignment. It was “toed in” by almost 2 inches (please don’t say it :)). After correcting it some more, it handles better now! Doesn’t get squirrelly until about 55-60 now…. So I still got some more adjustments...
I’ll stop by there later this week. I’m looking for someone local to do a custom theme designed wrap on the hood and side panels. Thanks for that info as well.
Frame color has grown on me! I thought it was a bit off at first, but it seems to have a certain aurora in the 6pm sunlight….. Sting method is another one that I’ll give a try at this weekend. The OCD in me tells me that I can’t get it perfect without laser machines and the engineer in me says...
Finally got around to grinding off those edges, so now the brackets fit perfectly. It took a while to figure out, but I found out that those small black plastic rings that come with the rotor hardware goes on the hub to help it mount snugly. Also, since I had the grinder out, it seemed like a...
I’m not sure if I got the wrong parts, but they are identical to what @snirtman received. Looks like I’ll be bringing out the grinder this evening to shave those raised edges off. Thanks!
The problem I’m having is that I can’t thread the upper bolt into the caliper bracket because the raised edge on my knuckle interferes with lining up the bracket correctly. I hope I’m wording this correctly.
Okay, so I have everything mounted up, but now I’m running into an issue when installing the rear brakes. I’ve looked at everyone else’s comments and photos and it seems like my knuckles are designed differently? Maybe because it’s not SS knuckles? Circled in green, the out edge of my knuckle...
Mannn, that would’ve been nice! To be fair, these hubs did JUST come in from backorder and maybe they didn’t have time to cap them.
Found the piece that I broke off in the trash. A lot thicker than what you showed me. A little under an inch in size that I had to remove.
I did a forum search because when I mounted them up, it didn’t sit flush. The ABS plug was sticking too far out. I came across Adam’s initial post about the bearing hubs and it looks like I was shipped PN 512250 and not PN 512285. The sensor plug was almost in line with the end of the studs on...
I severely underestimated the task of “removing the ABS plug” from the front hubs. GEEZ. I’ve spent the past 2 hours attempting to cut it out. I’m halfway there (with improper tools of course). It won’t be pretty, but it’ll be done and capped off soon.
STAGE 2 AND 3 ARRIVES!!!
Oh so many boxes to sort through and figure out. Honestly, I've never fully assembled suspension before, so this is going to be a fun challenge. I'll make sure to walk through everyone else's build and answer all my question first if I have any. I'm sure it's been...
I know it's been a while, but I'm back with some updates:
Stage 1 has been completed. During my down time, I was waiting on my Stage 2 and 3 parts to arrive here so I can get started adding the suspension. While I was waiting, I went ahead and cleaned up my work space, threw away some old...
Thanks! I was super excited when it first started. Ran for a few secs and shut off. I disconnected the MAF and it stayed running until I turned the key again.
