Assembly videos

And you will get more help if you just ask the question. It won't be necessary to start each one with "if only the videos were completed." Or "this project sucks". It is what it is.
So you think it’s easier to ask questions then watch a video?

You don't have much choice. My point is don't use each question as a chance to complain. Others have done that and and it gets old real quick.
I wouldn’t have a choice if there was a complete video log your right, and yet no one is taking that against them congrats but maybe there’s people out there who would just rather follow a video then to ask a bunch of questions, complaining would me saying this suspension sucks or bad welds etc, I’m just suggesting they should finish somthing helpful that they started that’s all

I’ll leave it at that, don’t need to keep repeating myself lmao

You, I and the many who messaged me privately when I went on my "rant", have come to a similar conclusion. I think the crystal ball the others speak of says that we shouldn't plan on them finishing a complete set of videos for Goblin V1. I can't speak for DF so if they want to sound off on any future "video assistance" for V1, or upcoming V2, that would be great but we're not holding our breath.

I was told by many here that, "it's a kit car. Figure it out buddy!". With that motivation in mind...I used what I could with the videos, paid DF to knock out the wiring harness (Got bad wiring advice from members, went south quick) and reached out to the forum to fill the gaps. DF struggles to answer emails and phone calls and simply aren't set up to support customers from a build perspective. They are there for sales.

Again, reach out to any of us at any time (triple check the guidance you get from anyone) and we can step you through the headaches associated with ANY build.

Why was that bad advice? Did DF mess up your harness or something?

No, I see how my wording would lead you to that end. I apologize. Will correct above to prevent confusion.

The wiring harness completed by DF was 100% and allowed for a first time, first start with the car. They even filled my request to leave the fog lights, running lights and 12V connections.

I have to say, never build a Goblin and most likely never will build one. Just the motor swap was enough for me. The forum and communitiy was one reason for me to decide for the goblin. BUT I can't list the amount of hours I have spend in the forum to find the information. It's all buried somewhere in someone's build log page 37... Many things I ask are already answered somewhere you can't find it. Sometimes I don't even know how what to search for,...

Videos would be great, but I think a community driven Wiki page would help a lot people tremendous.

To be fair though, @mike_sno , you followed the road least traveled by builders and likely DF themselves. You can probably count on one hand, the number of people that have swapped engines for a different type in a Goblin. Tough to justify making a video series to cover that. Most people in your position would have just added a supercharger, some new engine internals, and a tune, rather than swapping everything.

I do agree though: a complete video series should be the minimum, and should be expected. I've always felt that way. Now, I built my car in 2019-2020, when only the first unfinished set of videos existed. The new wiring videos were in progress and when those came out, they helped me immensely in finishing my wiring harness. But, I have not dabbled in the newest series of videos, so I don't know where those are at.

I don't think a wiki is a bad idea. But that's one of those things that, it's easy to say, a complete, searchable, organized wiki would be a great thing to help DF's customers, but it's another thing altogether to build it. Tough spot to be in.

I think we warned that swapping from one motor type to another along with ecm change would be a major undertaking that few (none?) had taken. I'm pretty good at the wiring side and know that would be a hard task.

Guys, before you get it wrong, I did not mean that a video series for a motor swap would be necessary. I just meant that the amount I looked for just the motor swap is insane! And besides taking the old motor out, the motor swap is just a part of a complete build.

I did not looked to much on how to get the old motor out. But preparing the harness and installing the motor is something every builder has to do. Just for this part I spend a lot time and found it helpful to have a wiki. In fact, I started a wiki and shared this idea with another forum member, the feedback I got was: Some others have tried that already and it was not appreciated. If you want to have a look and let me know, haven't taken it down yet. https://wiki.soflorc.com/

I have found luck in searching specific questions on google and just adding “df kit car forum” to the end. The search function on the forum can be weird and is not as advanced as others I’ve used.

Mike, You have my permission to use any post I have made in your wiki. I have been on this board for about a year+, almost 2. I have delved deeply into the basics of the wiring harnesses for my GOB-BALT. Currently 05-09 models, non SS wiring.
Thanks a lot, but I am not sure if I wanna continue going down the road. My idea was to set up the wiki, if its even liked by the community. Following reaching out to DF to ask for their premission. I am pretty good in programming and electric. This would be me giving back to the community, which helped me tremendously. I also appreciate the videos. They helped me to figure out quite a bit of the wiring harness. Never needed to pay for anything else to finish it, is also amazing.

My wiring harness worked besides the Gas pedal adapter ( Was a 50/50 chance to do it right, since there are no sufficient infos in the diagram), the fusebox which seems to have dirt in it, and the button panel where my diagram was not right.

LIke I said, if the majority is fine with the search function, there is no point in doing it any other way.

For me google has adjusted to my pc at the workbench and is listing DF wide up top of the search results :D
