Donor Requirements

The only compatible donor for the Goblin A/T kit is the automatic, naturally aspirated Chevrolet Cobalt or Pontiac G5. You can use the 2.2 or 2.4 liter version of the Cobalt or G5 but it must have the automatic transmission.

Using any other donor will require extra work from you.

You have to purchase your own donor car. Salvage Cobalts can be purchased for less than $1,000 from Copart.com or Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc. You can occasionally find good deals on Craigslist as well.

Chassis Selection

Goblin Chassis Info

The chassis is fully welded before it is delivered so you do not need to weld anything. We also predrill all of the floor and firewall rivet holes so that you do not have to drill them yourself.

The chassis is shipped out uncoated (bare steel). It is normal for there to be very light surface rust especially near the welds. This rust is easily dealt with by media blasting the frame before it gets powdercoated. If you plan to paint the frame, you will need to blast or lightly sand the rust before painting.

Choose chassis length:

The standard length chassis is good for drivers up to 6'2" tall if you are using racing type seats.

The extended length chassis adds 4 inches to the length and 2 inches to the height.


Choose cage style:

The Goblin A/T is only available with a full cage. The price for this cage type is already included.



Choose door bar style:

Full door bars provides more protection and make a great arm rest.

Easy entry door bars leave space open to make stepping into the car easier.

Optional Equipment

Any of the below options can be added to the order now or can be purchased later. These options can even be purchased after you've finished assembling your kit.

Body and Exterior

The fiberglass hood is delivered with a primer black gel coat finish that will require light sanding before being painted or wrapped. Mounting hardware is included. Trimmed to fit the A/T chassis.


The polycarbonate windscreen dramatically cuts down on wind in the cockpit and provides a much more comfortable experience. The windscreen bolts to the hood so you must order the hood as well or fabricate your own mounts.


The extended height windscreen is 2 inches taller than the standard height. Most builders will not require the extended height but taller builders can benefit from the extended height.


The fiberglass footwell cover mounts to the chassis over the footwell area to keep out water, road debris and radiator heat.


The side panels rivet to the lower side of the car. The aluminum panels are pre-drilled to make it easy to transfer the rivet hole locations to the chassis tubes. Trimmed to fit the A/T chassis.


The fiberglass engine cover is delivered with a primer black gel coat finish. Mounting hardware is included. SS/TC engine covers will be delivered in one piece and will need to be trimmed around the intercooler. Base and SC versions are split and ready to install on delivery.


The wing mount set will let you attach many universal wings to the Goblin. The kit includes uprights, top mounts, diagonal support rod and fasteners. The kit does not include a wing.



Lights and Electrical

The pair of 3.5" Dominator headlights includes mounting brackets and fasteners.


The side mirrors with built-in turn signals include CNC machined backer plates and fasteners.


The LED license plate mount includes mounting fasteners.


These LED lights function as tail, brake and reverse lights. Includes mounting hardware.


Fully assembled button panel set with accessory, info, enter, horn, hazard and cruise control buttons. The panels are powdercoated black with white silk screen lettering.


Send your donor car's harness to us to be reworked. The harness will be thinned, extended and taped up so that it is ready to drop into your Goblin chassis.



Seat Options

Pair of Corbeau FX1 Pro seats, 5 point latch and link harnesses and Goblin seat mounts. The FX1 Pro will fit up to a 36 inch waist.


Pair of Corbeau FX1 seats, 5 point latch and link harnesses and Goblin seat mounts. The FX1 will fit up to a 38 inch waist.



Other Options


The tow bar package allows you to flat tow your Goblin. Package includes the powder coated tow bar, chassis mounts, hardware and 60" trailer harness.


Swap from the stock Cobalt lug pattern to 5x114.3 with our redrilled bearing hubs. Includes front and rear hubs.


Instead of reusing your donor car's front brakes at the rear of your Goblin, you can use our parking brake setup. Includes calipers, rotors, adapter mounts and fasteners.

Purchasing the Kit

Order and pay in stages or all at once?

Ordering in stages can help you spread your budget over whatever time period works for you. Getting the kit delivered in stages can also keep a small workspace from becoming cluttered with extra parts.

  • Stage 1 - Chassis, control arms, brake lines, fuel tank, radiator and enough hardware to install and start your donor engine.
  • Stage 2 - Suspension, brakes, steering and enough hardware to get the car on its tires and driving.
  • Stage 3 - Body panels, lights and other final touches.

You'll pay for each stage as you become ready for it and you'll receive the parts as you pay for each stage.

You'll pay $750 today. The rest of the kit purchase will be broken up into 3 stages.

You'll pay $1,250 today. The rest of the kit purchase will be paid and shipped all at once when the kit is ready.

Registration

Registration varies by state. Check with your state to make sure you can register the Goblin for road use.

DF Kit Car will provide you with a Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin that matches the serial number plate attached to your chassis. You will use this document along with receipts for your donor equipment and other parts to prove ownership when registering the car.

Lead Times

Kits picked up or delivered within Texas will be subject to Texas sales tax (8.25%).
