Determining Auto or Manual on Copart

I apologize if I missed it somewhere, but how do we know which transmission a given car has? Is it only a label on the tranny?

The way I identify the transmission is by looking at the gear select/shifter in the car. Check out these images:

This is an early model automatic. It has a chromed shaft and a long tall knob.



The later model automatic has the same knob, but the shaft is not visible because it has a flexible boot around it.



Finally, the manual car has a spherical knob and always has a flexible boot.
