Bleeding the throwout bearing???

  • So I installed a new throwout bearing, clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. Got it all buttoned up and installed on the engine... engine installed in the goblin frame and getting ready to start bleeding. I then realize the throwout bearing must be full of air. The bleeder is above the transmission so my fear is that I need to have the trans and engine separated to get fluid through the bearing. Is there anyway to bleed the TOB without separating the trans and engine? I have a power bleeder setup however I don't see how that will get the air out of the TOB. THANKS GUYS.

I used a motive bleeder for mine. You don’t have to separate the motor/tranny.

After you get most of the air out have someone hold the clutch pedal down and open the bleeder. When the system loses pressure the slave cylinder will return and push air and brake fluid out. Repeat this step until no more air comes out.
After opening and closing the bleeder you will have to manually pull the pedal back up.

Thank you sir! I am glad I don't have to prime the TOB. Honestly thought I had to pull trans again and pump the TOB BY HAND. phew
