V1 Brake Clips

Stupid question...
I’ve changed a number of brake pads but somehow missed this little guy. What’s it for and where does it go?

Anti rattle? Outboard pad somehow?

I think those are wear indicators that squeal when your pad starts wearing thin. I hope they're not critical because I just tossed mine in the garbage. No brake failures yet in 6,000 miles. Knock knock.

Briann1177 is correct. Not critical at all, just a convenience.

I didn’t install any on mine. Just wear indicators.
