Digital Dash setup with Raspberry Pi

This is a sample of what it could look like.

Oh my gosh I'm doing the exact same thing. Except I'm using an IPad for the display. I'm nearly done designing a racing steering wheel which has a 16 LED array corresponding to different RPMs and they are programmed to flash at redline etc. A smaller LCD on the wheel displays numerical RPM, oil pressure and water temperature.

Found a racing sim wheel online which I'm modifying a bit. Will have a flat carbon fiber faceplate to mount the knobs, LEDs and such kinda like and electric guitar pickguard ala fender strat.

I'm going to CNC a few prototypes out of plywood. Then hoping to eventually convince Adam to mill me one outta 6061 ;)

Also playing around with DashBoss. I don't think it will work as the main speedo/tach but misc values are logged pretty well.

This was playing around in my Ford.
(No idea why the spark advance is so high....)

Tried to find you a picture of XAP steering wheel with dash display on wheel as used on 999 SuperSport Mk2. Don't know if picture came across.

I printed a scaled down version for fun. My thought is I'll make the "handle" portion flat on all sides for easy machining. Then I will pin plywood to the handles like a knife scale. That way I can easily shape and contour it, and then wrap it in some nice tennis racket or handlebar tape.

Nuker do you have a specific screen you want to use? Maybe we could work together to get your Rasberry setup to display some info to a small screen on the wheel?

It's so amazing. It looks very modern and useful. I know a similar software with yours: Digital Dashboard GPS pro (Actually I designed the website for this app developer so I know it). We can compare with each other.
Features included
- Save your track info,Record gpx file(it will be saved in "sdcard/DigitalDashboardGPSPro/gpx/").
- Switch between car speedometer and bike cyclometer.
- Switch between mph or km/h mode.
- Display satellites status.
- Map integration,get your location.
Any way, in my personal opinion, I found your app more attractive. (though I have't got a car yet to try these software LOL :)))

I really like the gauge cluster in my sonic rs, would be cool if there was a way to implement a different cars gauge cluster but i have no idea how or if it can be done lol

I have also been looking at a little cleaner and more up to date looking gauge package. I really like the layout of the Dakota Digital VHX-1100. It has all the necessary lights and gauges for a street legal car. Then it has the bonus of the buit in
Performance Meters
·0- 60 MPH Timer (0- 100 kmh)
·1/4 mile time
·1/4 mile end speed (trap speed)
·High speed recall
·High RPM recall

It is a little on the expensive side at $995.00, but you only live once...

Did any of you get anywhere with this? I've seen a few others doing obd readers to something like torque pro. They just seem to be lacking in the ability to completely replace the original cluster. I found a few things here and there but one that is really standing out is a custom dash done with a raspberry pi and screen. The guy is actually reading directly from the canbus. I'll attach the link to the blog where he has a video and links to his github with info on the build. I'd love to do one like that but have very little experience with a pi and it's a bit more complicated than I think I could pull off.
