Donor Parts Painting

I searched but not really getting what I want. What is everyone using to paint the donor parts to make them look fresh? I'm thinking that flat black would look nice, maybe semi-gloss.

I used Flat Black rattle cans from Ace Hardware. Worked fine for me.

Satin black is what I usually choose for "background" parts.

Even rattle can spray paints have been hard to find lately although I think maybe the supply is catching back up.

To add to what Gstorey was saying, for high wear stuff (floor pan for example) I used Farm and Implement paint. I love it. I tried a few different paints on the build and its the only one really holding up how I wanted it to. You can get it in flat or gloss black (and other colors of course). I got mine at TSC, but Home Depot has it too. They come rattle can as well, but I used the actual paint.

Here's my 2 cents. A local hot rod/restoration mechanic told me about Krylon Rust Protector in Semi-Gloss enamel. Good protection and factory look. I used it on suspension parts etc. Rattle cans from Walmart.

Thanks for all the information, I may be leaning more towards Satin instead of Flat paint. For now, just the rattle can but will be looking into the Farm paint once I have the flat metal pieces.

VHT satin black self etching epoxy paint. Chassis and rollbar paint, up to 250degrees. Rattle can sourced at Autozone or other auto parts stores.
They have high heat paints for brakes and exhausts as well.
Prep is key as with any paint. Follow their instructions.

I used Rust Bullet for all mine

It doesn't come in an aerosol though, you have to spray it on with a gun. I used a $10 harbor freight gun, and it worked great. no mixing, just shoot it on. It sticks to anything, and I haven't had any issues with it flaking yet. It ends up about the color of raw aluminum when it's done (I didn't want black).
