V1 Hood Mounting picture

Does anyone have a picture of the hood mounted at the front underneath? Just something to reference to make sure I have it all in the right order.

Picture was not for hood mounting but shows enough. Hood plate is riveted or bolted to the fiberglass hood. Hood attached to chassis through the 2 allen head Dzus fasteners. Sorry that it is all black. Bottom plate not included in kit.

I put the metal strap on the inside based upon wanting the larger head of the rivet on the fiberglass and the expansion part of the rivet on the metal.

I think I put large washers under the nuts inside the hood to distribute the load.

I wish I had thought of putting the strap on the inside...maybe I'll drill out the rivets and do it that way instead.

I am guessing that bracket wasn’t supposed to be mounted on the inside of the hood. I guess I will be drilling out some rivets.

The mount goes outside of the hood, opposite of the image above.

The brackets need to be bent as shown below to match the hood angle.

I understand that's the design intent but is there any concern about pulling the rivets through the fiberglass...under normal use.

If you are concerned about pulling the rivets through, perhaps you can double plate it or use appropriate sized fender washers for better area coverage. One of my cars has the bonnet latches riveted with the latch being the outside plate and there is an inside plate about an inch square. It has been stable for 16 years.

I sandwiched the fiberglass between the factory metal bracket and a piece of aluminum I had lying around, using it like a skid/ware plate. If the rivet heads get worn off I can just replace as necessary.
