Kit ordered!

I put my deposit down on an extended track Goblin on Friday. I picked up a 08 SS last September as a doner. It's was in a bad front end wreck so I know I have to buy a few extra things like a cradle that are no longer in the correct shape but thats no big deal. I've spent the last few months cleaning up the powertrain, installing all new gaskets and putting a new timing set in. I studded the head as well because why not. I'm looking forward to putting it together and maybe running into a fellow Michigander with a Goblin. I was a mechanic for about 10 years and now supervise a garage that builds prototypes so a complete car coming as a kit is pretty normal for me. I'm excited as hell to build this thing and looking forward to being part of this group.

Ooof... did it start before you took it apart?

Welcome!
Never heard it run. It has 85k miles on it and it was the guys baby before he wrecked it. Internally the motor looked good, other things like modules and sensors can be figured out if they raise their head. Leakdown/ compression test was good on the motor so I'm not super worried right now.

That's what I hear. I'm sure I'll get to know the Oakland County Sheriff because of that but I live about a mile from a track so hopefully I can scratch that itch there.
Which track? These things don’t like high speeds (over 100] without some work, but getting there doesn’t take long. And the handling is awesome.

I think it's too small to be a high speed track. It sounds like miatas with open headers all day Saturday from what I can hear when I'm in my backyard. I should stop by and watch a few races sometime.

I supervise the truck development garage for Stellantis. (FCA, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram ect....) so just about anything stellantis makes that has a full frame under it. Sometimes we help out with other vehicles but thats mostly what I do.

I really wish Dodge/Ram would bring back the Dakota ;););) pass that up the chain, will ya?

Glad to see you have your 'supervisor' checking out the donor. Always good to start them young. :D

Where at in Michigan. I live in Troy. I’m currently getting ready to install the engine in mine. I could do more maintenance on the engine but I want to get it built and on the road
