LSD F35 question

comegetjoe
Are you sure it was 'new' and not a cheap rebuild or a boneyard install?

I say new because the case is pristine. Its smooth, clean and looks new. The paperwork for the replacement didnt come with the car. Maybe it was just a painted and rebuilt unit.
It shifts wonderfully. As far as the lsd goes, when power comes in with full boost, its as if the wheels take turns spinning one and then the other.

That could be torque steer or a torque oscillation in the axle shafts - are they both the correct turbo axles or is one a smaller diameter than the other? Or it could be something in the suspension - worn or broken bushings, ball joints. These are a few things to check if you will be driving the donor for a while.

Is that the same as looking in the rearview mirror to see the rubber it lays down? Salty roads show nicely. I have yet to try the launch control.
No launch control needed, just aggressively lay in to it on a gravel road or wet pavement, it should tell you pretty quick if it has an LSD. Usually you can tell if one or both are spinning.

Mine has it right on the label

Here is another sample of the G85 transmission plate. Sorry for the (lack of) quality of the pic, it's the best I can get without ripping the car apart.

However ours does not state it in the plate and according to the windows sticker and VIN, it does have the G85 option. Maybe certain years have it in the tag while others don’t. Maybe the TC have it on the tag and our SC doesn’t??

I have two transmissions here.
One from an SS/TC sedan and one thats in my donor car. The one from the sedan is a 3.82 and says "X-L 55564936"
The one in the donor is a 4.05 gear and says "FZ55560937"

4.05 might explain why it feels like it could use a 6th gear on the highway.
