Hi all can anyone tell me where on the block the VIN is usually stamped?

The id number is engraved near the oil filter but I’m not sure that it will match the cars vin number.

Anyone know if the Serial is usually a part of the VIN? Basically I have the VIN but need to get the serial but dont have access to the vehicle right now. Wondering if there is a way to find out the Serial based on the VIN

my vin plate from the donor and my vin on the engine block. Wasn’t on the oil filter housing, was on the side where the starter goes. The one on my oil filter housing is different than my vin.

you can see the one on my oil filter housing, and then where the vehicle matching vin is in reference to it below:

Like @Gtstorey said, engine serial number is on the side of the oil filter. The vehicle VIN will be on the starter mount of the engine block. Reference my pictures above.

They are different numbers and don’t appear to be related in any way
