I new something was off on my donor car when they had a carter key to keep it in place. Does anyone know the bearing/seal part name or number? I have searched forms and such but can’t locate the part I’m looking for.

Looks like there is a tapered bearing race still left in your transmission.
AllDataDIY doesn't go into rebuilding the transmission, and I couldn't find an exploded view of the internal parts.
Measure the ID (inside diameter), OD and bearing thickness, and buy a new sealed bearing with those dimensions.
If you find the GM Part number, they will just sell you a bearing, but charge you 10X more for storing it thru GM.

It looks like you need a needle type bearing in there to set on that seat in the hole. That shaft would be part number 39 on the diagram and the other shaft is part number 38 (shafts). The bearings are numbers 50 and 51.

Looking at the diagrams I think you need one of the numbers written in on the one diagram picture, but I do not know which of the two -- I couldn't make it out following the arrows. Anyway, they are 30.00$ each and my Chevy dealer could order it - waiting for 10 to 14 days delivery! So, check with your local Chevy dealer and have them look up these numbers. I used 2008 Cobalt F/23 for getting this information.

Hope this might be helpful for you in your search and to others in the future.

I also, talked up the Goblin to the parts guy that actually asked if that is what I was doing. He has seen Tim Moland's at car shows and was impressed. He has the website info now!!

Thank you, we have a great bearing shop in town, I’m hoping they can work their magic
