Power Steering question

Hey Guys.
It turns out shaft in the power steering is bent and I will need to replace it. My question is are all the power steering the same? Or do I have to replace it with one from the same year and model?

Are you referring to the output shaft on the electrical steering box, the input shaft to the steering rack or the two piece steering shaft between the two?

Sounds like the right time to buy the Saturn Vue power steering that can be hacked to make the power assist adjustable.
