Turbo Upgrade

ZZP's Z54 Turbo has been out of stock for a while and they are not sure when they will be getting one in stock. Does anybody know of another option?

I don't know stock status but RPM Motorsports, Over the Top Performance (OTTP) and Hahn Racecraft all deal in turbos for Cobalt/HHR/Sky platforms.

You can get big savings from this guy Z57 1,100 Ofer him 1,000 for it has 500 miles on it. If you are interested let me know.

Was it installed on his Goblin? I spoke to ZZP a couple months ago and they said the Z57 wouldn't work on a Goblin

What's the boost threshold for the stock K04 turbo? Just wondering, since I still have not added any sort of forced induction to my Goblin yet but have been collecting parts when I see a deal.

HP Tuners forum says about 23 psi for K04.

Stock ko4 is good to approximately 23psi boost after that it just tends to make heat. Stock ko4 tends to choke out above 5000 rpm as well due to its small size. What it does do very well: spools crazy fast providing a long usable powerband with little lag. There is a trade off in everything it just depends what you are looking for as to where you are willing to go.

Don’t confuse 23PSI on a K04 to be the same PSI on a Z54 or Z57. The larger turbines will flow more air than smaller ones at the same PSI rating, thus making more power. That’s why larger turbos make more power at the same PSI

Not really the info I was looking for. By boost threshold, I mean what is the engine speed at which you see positive manifold pressure with the stock K04?

That is a much more complicated question on a stock ECM lnf. It's all controlled by the ECM although there is some theoretical point that it happens if uncontrolled.
