100%! Tires and harness are on the shopping list. Just focusing on getting it on the road. First few trips will likely be very mild and well behaved until I'm more confident both with the car and with my work.
It's been a hot minute since my last update. Haven't been very motivated until lately to get #384 done, but here we are nearing the finish line!
Had a few setbacks so far. Had some electrical gremlins that reared their head while I was finishing the wireing.
Wires that weren't supposed to...
I'm unsure of the differences between our wireing harnesses, but my data wire ran from pin 38 in the X2 connector on the bcm to the gauge cluster. Just so happened I grouped it with the button panel wires when I reworked the harness.
Found my problem. It was of course self induced. At some point I disconnected the green low speed gmlan data wire from the cluster and stuck it with button panel wires. Why? No idea.
Did a quick splice and tested it, car fired right up no issues.
Well after messing around with the fuse box, bcm, grounds, and who knows what else; I atleast have data coming though the obd2. Nothing else has changed unfortunately.
Double checked, all good.
New symptom. Info button doesn't work, so I can't tell.
Clutch is permanently in for the moment since I don't have the brakes on yet.
Alright....I'm stumped....
Spent the night trying to get the engine started, with no luck. Turn the key, everything clicks on, lights on the dash/shows miles, fuel pump primes, and then nothing when the key gets turned. The mileage turn into dashes and that's it. Tried hooking my scanner to the...
Good weekend of progress, but no start up yet. Not sure if the cars security is locking me out or I got some wires crossed somewhere. Got a friend with a professional scanner that's coming this weekend to help figure out that puzzle. In the mean time I've been making progress on the suspension...
Update. Gas tank and engine are in! Got some plumbing to do for Engine coolant and intercooler/heat exchanger. Started making wiring connections and preping for engine cradle to be bolted on. If all goes well may be able to do first start this weekend.
Progress 2 days in a row! Radiator plumbed in, wiring in place, ready to put in the fuel tank next.
Just wanted to take a second at thank the folks down there in Red Oak. Called DF today about some missing parts that ended up being extras that I didn't know to order. They are sending all the...
Life finds a way....to get in the way. Lol
This summer was crazy busy for me, and unfortunately the Goblin got pushed to a back burner. But progress has been made!
Assembly has begun. Got as far as mounting the pedals and break booster.
Finally got some cooperative weather and got some painting done, been unusualy cold and wet here the last few weeks. Still a few more coats to put on but getting very close to assembly!
Harness is done!
This must be how Dr Frankenstein felt....
Still quite a bit of prep work to do. Hoping for better weather tomorrow so I can start painting some donor parts.
Got my delivery set up with Stewart Transport, should be here the 17th or 18th. Super excited for it to get here!
Got an email from DF today, Stewart has scheduled the pick-up for my kit the week of May 9th. So that pretty much kills my plan of attending the Limitless Road Rally in June. Still going to push to get it on the road asap though!
