V1 18s?

I bought some adapters to convert the 5x110 to 5x120.65 which is the same as another car i have. That car currently has 18x8s (245s) on it and i just picked up a set of 17x9.5s (275s) for the gob. I will be fitting both on the gob to see how they work/look/feel. If the new ones dont work out they will just go on the other car. I will post pics when they are mounted.

Can people with 18's post pics of their setups? I am highly considering 18" wheels so I can use my donor's tires and save some money. LOL If not, I will probably go with some 17's.

I’m willing to bet you will be sorely disappointed with the donor tires, I really wouldn’t let tires be where you try to save money.

Actually they are all very low mileage tires that all of name brand and replaced not long ago. Why would I be disappointed in them? I know what they are, so it's not like I am putting tires on that I don't know what they are.

I can see the argument from both sides. However with my build it truly is a weekend cruiser that may eventually see an auto Cross track someday. I feel that in this sense if you like the look of 18s on your rig then sure you can reuse your tires.. with that being said there are some really good deals out there.. I got a set of toyo R1Rs in 17s for under $100 per tire! A lot of the builds on this forum are more purpose built track monsters! You also have to remember that whatever tires you go with they are the only thing keeping your 250+ HP 1500lbs pound rig planted to the street.

Andy, use whatever tires you wish, since you can always go with something different in the future. It's your car, build it anyway that suits you, that is what makes a Goblin unique and all your own.

It's true, a lot of people are building track cars. Mine, will probably never see a track. It is a weekend cruiser. I want the wheels to look good and be functional. Aesthetics of the wheels far outweigh most other aspects. I am thinking the 18's will look way too big, and have way too much gap between the rotors and calipers for my liking. I may go with a nice 16" wheel, maybe 17". I stuck with the 5x110 lug pattern, so I don't have a ton of choices out there. Definitely something I would have changed...but hindsight is always 20/20. Thanks guys.

It’s not really about condition or brand or mileage. It’s about tread wear and ability to maintain heat. It’s unlikely anyone replaced cobalt tires with 100 or 200 TW tires.

I used my donor tires for the initial test drive and it was like driving on donut spares coated in grease on a hockey rink. But they weren’t in very good condition. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I made an adapter and used a drill bushing to convert my 5x110 hubs to 5x114.3, anyone is welcome to it if you want to convert over to a more common bolt pattern.

Yeah, I could take the 31" tires off my Ranger and put them on the Goblin if I had my hubs redrilled!
