V1 1st start ATF level

I'm ready to do my first start in the morning and need some ATF advise.

We did a trans service and added 750 cc's back in. We should be about 1L short now. My question is, how full can it be before I have to put the CV shafts back in to keep it from running out, and is that full enough to protect the pump.

Not sure how much, but if your cv’s are out, add the fluid at shaft hole till you get to the bottom of the seal. Hell, you could do the same using the access hole.

I wasn't sure if the fluid was pumped or splashed up to the output shafts. I just want to make sure the trans will be OK and didn't really want those shafts hanging out with no suspension controlling them. Thanks for the help.

To be honest, I don’t know either, but it has to drain down somehow and the fill bolt is not much higher than the axle seal, so it’s a safe bet filling to that level will be fine for short term running. Which reminds me, I need to top mine off.
