Houston SCCA Autocross

Woohoo! No spins! Please tell me your time was faster than the obnoxiously loud Mustang that ran before you? Was it the same Mustang who did the guy wire 'trim' of the trunk spoiler from early March?

I had to look him up. It looks like he beat me by .100

and no. That was a different loud and obnoxious crowd killer……..errrr Mustang

Good day at autocross timing was all jacked up all day. Me and toxicbill had fun though and might (should) have a new goblin customer. This track took some time to get get down, though. That’s what it’s all about.

Okay so I just signed up for my first auto cross event. If I read correctly we are E mod correct? Also what should I expect being this will be my first time at an event

Ross
Yes, E mod for any turbo or SC goblin. Sun screen lotion, sun protection hat, water to keep hydrated. Lunch. Money to pay them. A helmet if you have one that fits, otherwise you get their left over helmets. GoPro or other camera. Tools (tire pressure gauge / pump), tires, goblin.

1. Have fun
B. Yes E Mod. painters tape your numbers and letters on unless you want to be a cool kid and make a plexiglass placard and zip tie it to the back.
III. Look over goblin the night before. When you run, set tire pressure low (probably around 15 all around) and shocks stiff.
4. When you get there ask people that have been there where to go and what to do. Everyone is (should be) helpful.
e. Do the rookie track walk and listen to them tell you how to handle the corners. If they don’t do that, do the track walk on your own and chat up others to get their insight on corners.
VI. If you don’t run first, try to get a ride with someone so you see how this goes and get a look at the track at speed.
7. Have fun
H. Ramp up incrementally. Take the first lap as comfortable as you want. Take the next one a little faster, and the next faster and next. Just be comfortable. If you gain time by the end of the day, those are good results you want.
IX. Get your trophy.

things to bring:
Water
hat
sun screen
food/snacks
air pressure gauge
air pump (if they don’t provide one)
painters tape
Arm restraints (if required)
helmet
gopro (gotta have vids)
probably other stuff. I have a big list that I bring, but trying to keep it simple for a first timer.

Interesting how you number a list. Somewhere out there an English teacher is spinning in their grave! Subheading: numerical, alphabetical, theoretical, ontological? Just Excellent. I'd assign a grade but I don't want to hem you in with all of that "external validation" "pass/fail" "crap". Party On Wayne!
