V1 How to build a good (non slipping) clutch

Hi,

it seems that the engine I bought just has a pressure plate and the friction disc itself is missing. Seems like the pressure plate is from this clutch kit.

My question is now: What makes a good clutch? Is it the spring which presses the clutch or is it the material of the clutch or a combination of both?

Trying to decide which part I want to order. Right now I am leaning to the M-Pact 384264ST15 as I don't know what would make the ST2 a better option...

Both; the pressure plate determines the clamping load and pedal effort, and the friction disc determines damping characteristics (sprung/unsprung) and the friction coefficient. Better is pretty subjective since it depends on your application. Think of it like brake pads... you want to choose the right compound for your application... street pads on a track will glaze and fade, and race pads on the street will struggle to get up to temp, squeal, and have poor modulation. What is your application/what are you using the car for? If it's purely street driven, a standard OEM replacement clutch will work fine.

Thanks, I got the Ceramic Disc ST2 and will see how that works out. I believe my engine has some power modifications and I think there was an upgraded clutch in for a reason. Will see how this works out and replace if not the right one.
