V1 Ignition switch doesn’t fit

Taken from Chads build thread, agree with Hokie, doesn't look like anythings wrong, remove the column clamp bolts.

The backend of the ignition switch bumps into the power steering. Holes won’t align.

Gotcha. I see from this angle. I would skip the step. And then ensure the steering pump is all correct. Otherwise. Drill new holes that make it fit. It's not a big deal for positioning.

Did everyone trim off the ring on the housing that is toward the outside of the car? Looks that way on Chad's build.

The ring doesn’t have to be trimmed. I just did that since I had time waiting in the frame. I didn’t care for the loop-of-nothing look.

I definitely trimmed it off mine. Though at this point I won't be using the stock ignition at all. LOL

If you eventually want to install a footwell cover you will need to trim the ignition switch and bend the forward end of the switch inward a little.

Yeah, just chop it off with an angle grinder and sand it down a little. It'll look fine.

I drilled out the threaded holes in the ignition switch body, used a longer bolt and nut that way you can put the switch on the other side of the bracket. That moved it over almost a full inch and worked really well.
