Looking for a Goblin gas tank.

Ross
I have a Cobalt gas tank... but a goblin gas tank you could get from DF.
Not sure anybody would have a spare goblin tank, as we need the one that came with the kit.

Alternative: an early 60s or a 50s pickup truck gas tank - which is vertically oriented and resided inside the cab - may be a possibility? I'm guessing the tank needs to be narrow and functional?

Needs to be 10" deep to fit original cobalt pump, and hot dog long, holding ~14-18 gal. I may have to default to a fuel cell and a 200 mi reminder and a 5 gal gas can on board; time is short!

The goblin tank is too small... only 10 gallons, not 14-18 gallons. The plastic Cobalt tank I have is that size... but it is in Rogers, Arkansas. Your local auto part recycler store is closer.

Ummm Sir, how are you on a goblin forum, not building a goblin (at least not of your own), looking for very specific goblin parts? :p
Geez Joe?, I thought you knew my mania?o_O My GOB-BALT(a somewhat Goblin-ized Cobalt) has the engine out back and I cannot keep the original tank in the original location; it hits the motor. Trying to avoid having my Friend at Tanks Inc in El Paso, build me a tank by June 9th. Chuy says his guys can do it!, but the cost for a rush job would be $ prohibitive!(I can not blame them, my rush is not their problem! I am thankful for their kind offer!)
For my second GOB-BALT I'll have some verified measurements; then we'll build it a proper tank!
HOW do I find myself HERE and not on a Cobalt site? Well I'm modifying the snot out of a Cobalt and those guys are doing stuff to Cobalts to go faster. A Valid Goal! but not exactly aligned with my goals. I am in between these two worlds, BOTH have given me so much and I have learned volumes about these cars/systems/powertrains; I like to help and support those that have helped me along!
I know you're laughing with me, and maybe a little at me, but then again I'm laughing a little at myself too! I'm not that "serious guy" and I have a thick hide.
Remember: Rome wasn't Burned in a day, Dude!, that probably took all weekend!

Can you thermoform the stock gas tank to meet your needs? I have never tried using a heat gun on this gas tank, but lots of plastics can be reshaped this way.

I would try that if I had more time! The tank was blow molded or roto formed, by my non pro estimation. I guess if I pressurized it(low pressure, 5#) it probably wouldn't thin, fold or collapse the walls. I wish my Dad were still with us, he worked for Dupont, he called on(sales/tech rep) the big three trying to get them to adopt Polyethylene tanks in the 70's. These tanks also have a non UV stabilized inner layer.
I'll probably use a fuel cell initially.
