V1 LSJ Bottom End

Been prepping the engine components to get ready to reassemble and noticed this strange abnormality in the aluminum along the bottom of the girdle. Anyone have thoughts on this? Cause for concern?

Looks like casting marks. It is just part of the windage area, so it isn't a critical, as oil will flow to the bottom.

If you are worried that it might be a crack, you could put fluorescent die on it, let it soak in, wipe it off, and then coat with talc powder, check with a black light.

Looks pretty typical for a cast surface finish. I wouldn't be too concerned, but I also don't have extensive knowledge of the internals of an LSJ. Is it a bearing surface of any kind?

Negative - it’s sort of the crank “cradle” I guess you could call it, but I don’t believe the crank actually touches that part of the girdle
