V1 LSJ Z54 Turbo Swap

Fozda
I don't think I ever got the coupler to go through there without hitting something but it wasn't an issue because it's just a coupler. I think your only option is going to be reducing the length of your inlet but without a bead there's a very good chance of it blowing off. There's things you can do to help prevent it from coming off but nothing is as good as a bead.

@Gtstorey that may be the best option at this point. I’d like to just buy the shorter one from DF if I could but I haven’t been able to get ahold of them recently and I don’t think it’s listed on their store. @Sluggonaut do you know if they have it listed? Or if there is a parts supplier I could order it from directly?

I found quite a few searching for "vband compressor inlet adapter" but adding Z54 to the search didn't seem to help. You'll have to filter through the search results and look at specs to see which ones might fit the Z54. I don't know what any of the dimensions are for it so I can't speculate which one might work for you.

Mine is indeed V band - I may have to call ZZP and see what input they have on this. I have to wonder though, has no one else had this issue before? I can't be the only one to have run a Z54 entry level kit I wouldn't think? Maybe they've encountered this exact issue if there are others lol

I haven't seen an LSJ-T Z54 entry kit on a Goblin yet. I'm not saying it hasn't been done but it does seem like everyone usually does the K04. The LNF doesn't have the same pipe routing so they wouldn't have this issue.

can you clock the inlet side far enough back and run it over the bar instead of under it?
From my experience, you can't clock the turbo that far due to the wastegate actuator. However, my experience is with the standard K04 so it could be different.

I also wonder if this would create air flow issues as you’d be headed straight into a 90 degree elbow right after the turbo.
Starting to wonder if maybe the purpose of the entry level kit has been defeated here and an air to air solution would in fact be easier. @Fozda what has your experience been with the conversion?

I have the z-54 on my LNF and the turbo seems to clear much better.

Is it a LNF exhaust manifold that came with the kit?

UPDATE: Today I said to hell with it went ahead and got the engine bolted in the rest of the way, mated to the trans, and much to my disbelief, the gap between the valve cover and that rear cross member was somehow larger - It must be because the engine is slightly reclined when the most forward bolt on the engine side is tightened all the way. Either way, here it is and just barely fits:

Thanks for all the help guys - I appreciate it. I guess sometimes it is better to just send it...that is unless your intake manifold is full of debris from a previously blown engine.

Intercooler?

Love the 'Oldsmobile' gold color.
Going with a water cooled setup for now (ZZP Entry level stage 2 and a dual pass end plate) - Will likely end up moving to an A2A setup down the road, but I'd already pulled the trigger on an entry level without really exploring the realm of possibilities. So for now the intercooler is just the stock Lamanova cores.
