V1 Mist cooling air conditioning system - works great!

I made up these misters for driver/passenger using some washer fluid tanks and mist nozzle kit. Being in Denver HOT and DRY this works great, especially at red lights. aluminum bracket out of some scrap aluminum. kayak drains with o-rings epoxy into the bottom of the tanks so I can drain them without removing.

I was trying to come up with a hood scoop that rises up and directs outside air into the cabin. I'm no designer but a hinge and a shift cable with detents sounds reasonable. But I really like the mister. I bet it feels awesome when you need it.

I added a small hood scoop to mine, but it doesn't do much. Plan on going pretty tall if you want very much air. Mine helps a little, but it doesn't do a lot. Raising the windshield to let air under it helped a lot more.

Need air in the cockpit? From my build log posts #166 and #198. I fabricated a fresh air scoop/plenum that gets 'pressurized' air (when driving) from the nose where there is a gap above the radiator.

'Was looking at the space around the radiator between the sides and top that gaps to the hood seeing that air will go around the radiator and not through it. That gap needs to be filled in to push all the air coming in the front through the radiator. Hmmm, I'm thinking the gap on top could be put to good use. The gap on the top of the radiator is big enough to also put a scoop and air plenum to the underside of the hood to grab the rest of the high pressure air that would be wasted. A big flat panel with an opening an inch in front of the top edge of the radiator is all that is needed. The panel gets bonded to the inside of the hood and should clear everything. Got out the CADboard and mocked up the panel and did a test fit of the hood onto the frame - perfect fit. The panel width is 10 inches at the front widening to 22 inch at the rear and is 33 inches long, shaped to fit against the bottom of the hood contours (hourglass shaped). A fiberglass panel and a pair of universal vents from eBay and I will be much cooler when driving!'

'Luxury car feature: got the fresh air plenum glassed into the hood. Three layers of glass over a fiberboard form. Will need to get adjustable vents installed, these will be up under the dashboard aimed at your knees. Any airflow in the desert, not coming from the radiator, is a good thing!'

'Edit: BTW the plenum adds some stiffness to the hood - bonus!'
