PA / Montana Reg&Insurance

Hey guys, ready to pull the trigger on buying a completed Goblin but doing my research first and running into some dead ends.

1. PA registration seems to require enhanced inspection even with a clean title from another state?
I’m not interested in going this route and would probably deter me from buying, as I’ve heard our enhanced inspection is incredibly unorganized/ not well defined so it is often at the whim of the inspector.

2. Montana LLC route - my current toy policy is with American collector’s insurance who have been great for my Trans Am. Unfortunately, they are able to insure the goblin only in PA, not Montana. I am currently waiting on a response from Rally, who said in January when I first inquired that they would cover me.

Any other routes I should try in the meantime?

I would prefer a specialty company over a big box insurance unless there is a good reason. I feel like the bigger companies don’t deal with our specific situations enough to provide good service.

there are 3 PA registered goblins that I've seen. I'm one of them and got mine inspected by the guys over at Acme trailer works in Lemoyne PA. They are the producers of the Berrien buggy and were super helpful in the inspection process. There is an entire booklet of the requirements to become road legal on the penndot website, I'd have to find it again but it had everything from the angle of your headlights to how farm apart your marker lights had to be. My goblin is insured under an agreed value plan with progressive. lmk if you need anything else!

Thanks for the info, these were all new builds that got registered? Wondering if they still require enhanced when it’s already titled registered and driven in another state.

that would be a question for ACME probably. If it was given a title stating that it is a goblin with its own VIN PA should just transfer it.

@Ark :D I was reading old posts and saw that you used American modern. I called a broker in my state and a random one in Montana and both were unable to help me. Do you have a contact with them that I can try?

Called Acme, very helpful but wouldn’t be able to get me in for an inspection until the end of August and the turnaround from there might not be quick. Plus a laundry list of requirements for the inspection.

who has insurer recommendations for MT reg and out of state garage address?
