I'm about to get my tires mounted to my wheels and was reading up on the tpms sensors on this forum. It sounds like there's no reason to use them, is this correct? Other than a warning light is there any reason to get tpms working on the car? If not using them then is there any reason to have the little black box connected or does this still sense the key fob and control engine starting or something else I'm not thinking of.

I ditched mine, but some keep theirs active. Personal preference I guess.

since we run lower tire pressures, you’ll need the calibrations set lower so the light doesn’t come on, too.

Mine is operational with my street tires. However, the factory default for the light is 20 psi. When I was running autoX at first with those tires, I was down to 10-12 psi - so the light was always on. In hindsight, I would not spend the money to keep it again.

So, I saved the TPMS sensors (new ones with the new wheels actually). I finally just did the relearn procedure and the lowest of them is currently at 27psi (higher than the car really needs I know). But the "low tire pressure add air" message is still on. Maybe I just need to drive it around a bit?? I figured I'd run over 20psi on the street and not have to see that message every time I start up...

Believe the TPMS has a factory setting that will always alert to low tire pressure below a preset level. Recall seeing that someone tried to play with this in HP tuning, not sure if it can be adjusted for the lower pressure needed for the Goblin?

Right, I saw something else online agreeing with Jason saying that the preset level is 20 psi. I'm currently seeing it at 27psi, maybe it has to refresh with driving or something. You might be thinking of one of Brad's devices that hasn't fully made it to fruition yet. With his device one of the functions would enable changing the preset level.

I was able to adjust down the pressure to 20psi for tpms. It was done with either a tech2 or hp tuners. Cannot remember which. 20 is the minimum we could set.

The reality is that for autocross I am running around 15 and on the street, I am around 18-20. So the idiot light is basically always on.

I put tape over the tpms light and now it doesn't bother me.

I definitely don't care about the light if/ when I autocross. But would be nice to utilize the feature on the road since it's basically there. I'd definitely like to know how you changed it to 20, I'll likely be running something like 20-25 on the road maybe.

I don’t see anything in HP Tuners for tire pressure for the LNF.
I looked through the Tech2 pathing list and do see what could be the option for changing the tire pressure setting but I haven’t checked to see if it is available for the Tech2 clone.

I may have made an assumption 20 was the factory setting. I no longer have a factory tune, so it is possible it was higher than 20 originally, and the tuner set it lower.
When I went through the relearn procedure, I remember it being pretty a quick response. At least within a few seconds.

You can lower it to 20 with a tech2 or clone, HP tuners will not modify anything in the BCM only the ECU, unless your using something custom going below 20 is not possible

That makes sense, I wasn't seeing anything pertaining to TPMS in HP Tuners.

Also, as another data point, my current threshold seems to be 30 psi.
