V3?

Good Day fellow goblinites,

I know that a V3 (essentially a V2 but with another donor choice) has been discussed. In my research for a power plant that would be light, powerful, plentiful in cars/spares with a good transmission option, I landed upon the B48 with a 7 speed getrag DCT from a mini cooper s. Same motor is in a lot of cars including the 2.0T Supra. Aluminum block with great aftermarket support too.

I am currently juggling whether to adapt this setup into a V2 or to use an 07K with a DQ381.

I would guess the overall sales number would push the price of donors up.

"Hold my beer dagnabit - I'm gonna pilpher this here superah enginne an drop into muh dune buggy an gonna make it go real fast..." LOL!!!! Can't get that picture out of my head.

Join the dozens who have visions of a franken-Goblin with a drivetrain they are in love with, make big plans, and are never heard from again. Or be a proud part of those who actually follow through with their plans and git-r-done, with a build log and photos of their I-didn't-follow-the-crowd builds. Those are some proud people with skills - RESPECT! :p:D

If I had the skills I would swap a K series with a 6 speed in mine in a heartbeat. However I am plenty content with the 300whp it makes currently.
I will get flamed for this, but I have fallen off the K series band wagon, not as reliable as the influencers say they are and literally rattle themselves to pieces

I think people get the 2JZ mentality about them, that they can strap an enormous turbo with zero supporting mods and they will live forever. I have personally put 130k miles on a K24 in a TSX and I just loved it to death.

The 07Ks seem to be a good platform for putting some forced air induction on it and tweaking it up from the 150ish(?) stock HP. Should make great torque too. ;):D
I have a friend that hill climbs a NA Miata that recently departed from a K24 turbo to an 07K turbo and ironically, it only weighs 20-30 lbs more long block for long block. K24 is heavier up high.

Also, sexy turbo lambo noises
