What is everyone's average final cost to build?

I also see people talking about buying different parts from DF, or being able to add stuff at a later date, but I don't see where you can shop for those things. Maybe I'm blind but is there a separate shop where you see the extras at? The only options I see are when you order your whole kit and the add ons available then.

They are shown after you make a deposit on a chassis. But its everything I listed that's not shown in the web site estimate. The stage 4 kit as I would call it Has everything that DF offer from the red SC goblin in all the videos.

You can buy everything and spend more that's why almost all the completed goblins were all the same price from DF.

The difference is going to fall in how much you spent on the donor vehicle and how much you spent on paint/powder coat after that did you break the motor down or buy new components. Some people need more body parts than others for state inspection, some want everything just because.

If you buy everything for a SS donor no matter if its in stages or all together the kit is roughly 15k
14k if you don't get extended-track frame

I chose to buy my own seats/mounting brackets which saved 500 or so but my brackets required a little modification. Also decided to by my own headlight and mirrors off of eBay cause of the prices. I bought the DF button panel and wing brackets cause I do not have the skill set to make these on my own.. also if your state requires a parking brake be sure to specify that in your order cause I am having to remove my rear brakes and pick up the DF parking brake caliper/rotor kit luckily I have not bleed or painted the calipers. I am not buying the engine cover even though it looks great it seems like a pain in the ass for turbo builds so I’ll save a lil more $

Its kinda a pain I have already given you all the prices at 5pm.

The wing is around $400 people buy the on ebay because the last batch peeled.
Brackets are cheap possibly 100.00

That's the thing you don't need to customize much just buy the stuff that you need from them. Adam will tell you there's not much mark up on what he has to offer.
MN we have 90 days of good weather I need to have it together powder coating this time of year is busy and expensive.

Stainless brake hose here would cost the same, you won't save any money on a wind shield or fenders on your own, the muffler, brakes, steering wheel are provided all you need to do is pick your budget.

Parking brake 225 ish and brackets 90 the wing is not available at the moment

The parking brake kit was 475 when I bought mine. I did't want a second set of brake calipers on the rear, so I omitted the original brake calipers, and got a credit of 225 back, effectively costing me 250. You can see some of the e brake parts on this video:

[Don't include the cost of purchased tool in the cost of your build - which it seems some are doing to get their high $ figure.] I'm at about $30K for kit (plus DF F40 mods) + new LNF crate engine + new F40 transmission/clutch/axles + wheels/tires + seats/harnesses + lighting + fabrication steel and parts for engineering the double wishbone rear suspension. More materials and parts are needed and will be purchased in time - but my build is not a 'stock' Goblin by any stretch of the imagination.

If you were to sell your car, would you include the cost of those new tools in the price? I think not, otherwise if I were the buyer I'd be getting all those lightly used tools with my newly acquired Goblin. So why would you want to scare off potential Goblin builders by artificially inflating the cost to build one by including the cost of tools you personally didn't own before building a Goblin? Not fair to those who already own most tools needed and went into this project knowing that there are some tools that would be purchased to complete the build. Government math doesn't apply to this thread for what it costs to build a Goblin - and not buy tools. IMO.

Other than welder, I don’t know that all the tools I used would have added up to more than a few hundred dollars and definitely less than $1000 and this includes tools to do a decent amount of custom work. I don’t know how you could spend $35k to build one of these unless you you paid $10k for a donor or built a motor for 500+hp.

I don’t think I have $25k in mine and that includes a new motor and transmission plus almost.every other wear type item was replaced. I got lucky on some of this since I bought one of the last ATK full motors and one of the last cheap transmissions that DF had.

Tools, Aftermarket, Custom, replacement donor parts, that's on you. DF has a budget estimator based on best guesses of typical work done. You chose your powdercoating, wheels, tires, seats, aftermarket gages, ect. You have to own that and should have planned for it. I will agree you do need a drill/driver where they say you don't, but that is it. Have I also used a welder and a circular (band) saw, but I have customized my ride.

You picked your car and paid for it's shipping and replacement parts. DF cannot do that for you and are pretty clear that the kit is not the only costs you will face in building it not are they responsible for your choice in aftermarket parts to fit.

I truly think you are nowhere near $35K for your build but if you are, I am sure it is a kick ass ride and once done will be ever proud of it.

All in I am $16K without tools, with wheels, tires, seats, side panels, under trays, wiring, lights, seat belts, and on and on included. I do have a cheap 2.4L auto but the SC/TC guys are only about $5-8K more due to kit and donor costs.

@ Paperscale, You buy the kit with options you think you want from the DF ordering site. You buy a donor at your best low price found. Cobalt's from my local police/tow yard auctions have gone for under 1000$ for the basic cars. From the insurance auctions like Copart you'll pay more as well as from Facebook/ Craigslist etc. SC and turbo Cobalt's will be more money if you can find them.

You don't need to purchase wings, bling items, options that are way over priced for the benefit provided in drivability. Seats? I don't need 900 $ seats. Build your Goblin and enjoy it then add bling later - remembering that it may cost even more. Figure into your budget paint or wrap, aftermarket wheel and tire cost as well.

Please bring this topic back to original question. We all know you don't recover your person items costs, labor and overheads when and if you sell.

20 to 25,000 $ should be a good ballpark to build a Goblin.

So how much of that is the unexpected cost that has caused all of the complaints? Other than maintenance items for your donor? And most of those had much more affordable options than the one you chose. And I sure don’t see much that I can pick out as something that is DF’s fault.

$31,542 + $1,500 on registration for me.

Unfortunately a large amount of the parts on my donor were garbage, if I would have spent $6,000 on a donor instead of $3,000 I could have saved maybe 5-6k on the build. my total budget was 30.

The upside...aside from a couple leaking valves 90% of my goblin is brand new so it should be trouble free for years

I personally didn't mind having to fine tune some of the DF parts, I expected to drill out virtually every hole that got powder coated, it was part of the hand built process I enjoyed. The fit and finish of mostly everything can be dialed in really nicely with some added effort. Take the estimate of time you want to spend building and just double it...lol its normal
