What is this? Giant square U bolt.

Hi All,

This is a quick one... does anyone know what this is? It came with my second-hand unfinished kit, and it's powdercoated to match my chassis.

It wraps around the bottom of the battery tray, and has a piece of angle iron with 2 holes that the threads go thru, then 2 nuts hold the battery to the battery tray.

Thanks for the quick reply! However, I thought these J hooks + angle iron are for the battery tray?

the holes on the angle iron don’t line up with the u bolt, and the u bolt is way too wide for the battery tray.

Well it was my best guess. I was wrong.
I don't remember that from my goblin... either it is a newer part, or a turbo goblin part.

No worries! This was included in a pretty incomplete kit #05 so if anything it's likely a legacy part.

Interesting thought… I have 2 straps on my tank, but this looks to be fuel tank sized. I’ll check when I get home if that seems to line up with anything.

We've been looking for that missing U bolt for 9 years now! It must have accidentally fell into John's kit when we were packing it!

Just kidding.

I have never seen a U bolt of that size so I'm not sure where it came from. Maybe it was something John was tinkering with on his own? We definitely never included that in the kit.

Wait, that's a very rare framistanit bolt, used in WWII German U-Boats to allow the toilets to flush under water! There is probably a museum somewhere that's been looking for it for years now.
