I know, I know engine sound is beautiful enough and an extra speaker is just extra weight. But I would love to have some speaker for my kids while I ride with them. Any recommendations? Was looking at the JBL boombox mounted somewhere at the passenger side under the hood or so.

Invest in something that puts enough wattage out that you'll actually hear it under power. Otherwise, road, wind and engine/exhaust noise will drown everything out and you'll end up with stop sign/stop light music only. NOAM builds several series that work well. The sub actually sounds pretty good, for what it is, mounts to the frame and tucks in behind a seat well.
