A Peek Into DF Kit Car

Metal Mech
So here is my debate. I’m tempted to get the tow bar. I would use it to tow it around to local car shows and what not. However I do plan to tow this thing to and from Ohio once a year. Is flat towing the Goblin that long of a distance really a good idea? Not sure if it worth having both a tow bar and a trailer.

Another question. If I add one to my invoice for my kit will you guys sit one aside to ship with my kit?

I think Lonny and Adam flat towed a Goblin from Dallas to N.C. with a Cobalt. I'm always nervous about flat towing since I saw may parents flat towing a car once around a right hand corner where for some reason the wheels of the car ended up turned left.

Please email us at [email protected] if you'd like to order a tow bar & have it added to an outgoing kit shipment. We have no problem holding onto a tow bar for a kit that has yet to ship out, just let us know that so we do not miss that.

The guys here & many Family members have all flat towed their Goblins without issue. This thread holds a lot of answers so I hope it helps: https://dfkitcar.com/forum/index.php?threads/flat-towing-the-goblin-any-guides.960/#post-19106

We're in for some afternoon/evening storms with a hail & tornado warning. Supposedly we may have golf ball to baseball sized hail. Hoping not though! Hope everyone is having a good morning & looking forward to the Easter weekend. We will be closed Friday but as always, Lonny does his best to answer any calls that come in & of course, our site is always open for business!

We have not heard of a pick up date for this next round of regional shipments (381/384/389/396) but all invoicing has gone out & we're waiting on payment for a few. We did give Stewart a ready date of 4/18 but as you know, pick ups are all scheduled by them.

We also have invoicing getting ready to go out for the following asap as we've given Stewart a ready date of 4/25 - (387/393/394/395/391).

The warehouse is pulling & packing a lot of orders currently - a lot of latter stage orders as well as miscellaneous orders we receive through our store site.

#379 is scheduled to be here for his kit pick up Thursday morning right after we open at 8. He's coming all the way down from Andover, MN. Nice little drive! We always love when you guys come by!

Something I wanted to share that hopefully gets seen by everyone or passed along: Have your powder coater put a heat resistant tape OVER your chassis plate # behind the driver area so it does not get ruined if they spray too heavily. We've been getting quite a few replacement plate requests due to powder coaters "ruining" them. So please, if you are not wanting to pay for a single replacement plate, either remove it or put heat resistant tape over it. We purchase those plates in bulk so when we need just 1 - we have to reach out to our vendor for a price (which can fluctuate) as well as Priority mailing costs as that is how they ship. They seem to produce single ones for us quickly but you can do yourself a favor & do what you can on your end to protect it.

Have a great day y'all! Call or email us with questions.

While it is pouring so hard outside that I cannot hear out of the 1 earbud I have in trying to listen to 70's music (favorite genre!) we're dry inside...Woot woot! The hail now coming down is at least small - less than dime sized. Sounds crazy on our roofs here though!

Thankfully last nights storm in our area was nothing as predicted! No horrible rain or hail here on our side of town. This beautiful after the storm photo taken in Ennis (just West of us) shows you some of our lovely Texas Bluebonnets & an incredible rainbow view!

If y'all have never seen our beautiful Texas bluebonnets - This is peak time for them!

The guys have built a new shelf system to hold chassis' double stacked so we have more floor room.....NICE!!!!

A bit chilly here this morning but the guys warmed up a bit loading #379 earlier - It was GREAT to finally meet Josh who drove all the way down from Andover Minnesota - WOW! Josh picked up his full kit purchase & is headed home...No points against him for not bringing Portillos OR White Castle with him! ;):p:D

The welders have been busy doing a lot of different things around here so my apologies for not having any chassis photos posted lately, I may have missed a few while I was out last Friday & this past Monday but hey, I do my best. I was injured Friday & ended up being taken to the emergency clinic by my sister who happened to be in town - head injuries are nothing to sneeze at. I don't recall much of anything from Friday till Saturday but I'm recovering & doing good. The dang headaches just need to stop & I have a few nice scars on my forehead & scalp as trophies. Talk about itchy!

Rotors rotors & more rotors!

You see, this is why you shouldn't take personal days; you end up getting hurt. It's best to never leave us again, Kimberly :)

In all seriousness, I hope you recover soon. Head injuries are the worst because there isn't much room in the skull to compensate swelling or fluid. Please take it easy and don't hesitate to go to the ER if the migraines don't stop or get unbearable.

That’s pretty cool about the Goblin on the rock auto magnet.
Looks like that’s possibly a PA registered Goblin since it has the windshield and front bumper.
I wish you guys offered a version of the full cage like that one so it’s ready to accept a windshield.
I fear that’s gonna be my biggest headache.

It used to belong to @Karter2026 , who is from Pittsburgh, PA. He sold it a while back.

Dang cool!! I have thrown so many of those magnets away in the past. I bet that one raised some eyebrows when the Rock Auto customers opened up their parts orders.

I wanted to pass along a few things as I've seen quite a few questions come in over these things:

1) We do not charge you directly for any Stewart Transport shipment - They do & they call you direct a few days before picking up here for payment to them. I work closely with them to coordinate the regional shipments as well as trying to get you the best price possible. Right now, diesel fuel is high across the Nation though some areas are higher than others. Stewart takes a lot into consideration when they price your final mile delivery with them, including diesel costs. Trying to compare 1 delivery cost to another is not something to do as those costs are "fluid" & change often. Whether your shipment with them weighs 400# or a lot more, it does not matter. It is the room you're taking up in the trailer as well as distance that matters to them.

2) We are not able to customize the rear hoop cage any longer as it is all pre-welded now in order to keep us going at the production speed we're at. In the past, we were happy to delete items such as seat belt mounts, etc. because we were welding the rear hoop on demand. We stopped offering our A/T kit & our standard length chassis at the start of this year to help increase our welding capacity & doing so has helped tremendously. The guys are welding out 3 chassis a week though at times they are doing more or less depending on what else is going on around here. We hope you understand.

Speaking of Stewart Transport - We have the following kits ready to go & are waiting on a firm pick up date for them all - 384/381/389/396 (Those 4 were sent as 1 regional shipment) & we also have the following ready as their own regional shipment - 394/393/387 & another we're waiting on payment for as well as another that is waiting on a revised invoice. On Thursday, Stewart Transport let us know that they are 1 driver down due to an injury but that they have replacement coming in so we hope to see them back here for a pick up asap as we're filling up here with chassis.

#385 is coming all the way from Ventura California to pick up his full kit this Friday. We LOVE how far you guys are willing to travel to come visit us & see the shop! One of these days we should give out a "farthest traveled" trophy or something like that!

A little bird tells me that this Wednesday is Lonny's birthday!

Someone asked where the live video I did a few months back on FB went - I needed to delete it for personal reasons & while I may do another live video at some point, I will no longer be in them at all. Please do not ask why.

I hope everyone had a good Easter weekend ~ That's it for now folks!

#397 on the jig today - She'll make her home in Allentown PA when she's ready. We have her as part of a regional shipment that we gave Stewart a ready date of 5/20. As always - That is NOT a pick up date at all but rather the ready date we give them to base their pick ups off of.
