V1 Another stupid question

The fuel pump has 2 connections, one goes to the fuel filter and eventually to the fuel rail. I believe the other went to the evap system which is now removed. What do we do with the 2nd connection from the pump? I apologize if this is a dumb question.

That's correct. One is the pressure side and the other is the return. The pressure regulator is located in the pump. The pump pumps fuel up to the filter and the return line only lets fuel return if it exceeds 58psi (4 bar).

Like I said, stupid question. Follow up stupid question, does it matter which line goes to which connection on the filter? I see some have a short connection and a long connection on the filter as if it's intentional to differentiate between the 2.
