V1 Brake Caliper Prep

Has anyone sanded the bumpy finish off on the brake calipers? I am planning on using VHT spray paint vs powder coating. Is it worth the time to get a smooth finish? I appreciate your experiences and opinions.

I used vht caliper paint and didn’t do any smoothing. I think it looks fine but you want mistake it for powder coat. Of course the vht paint is a satin paint anyway.

Painting the calipers is one of the few things I regret not doing.
But now like @Rttoys says - “rust is a color”……

Not much at all. I did not deviate much from the DF build plan.
With a turbo donor, I have had plenty of high hp smiles.

I noticed while just idling, the header and muffler radiates a fair amount of heat. That is also with no real airflow. The primary tubes run real close to the coolant pump feed tube and wanted to keep heat of it as well. Street driving it would be fine. But taking it to a road course, I like...

Are the calipers DF supplies painted or do they just have a rust inhibitor on them? Considered painting but the silver finish looks good too.

They are unpainted. They will rust. I promise……..
